@BrodieOnLinux If I had to guess, I think it's because alot of people like to chase the concept of a playable hollywood movie.
English

@BrodieOnLinux The thing about realism is that it can work as novelty when eveything else isn't. Half life was more "realistic" than something like quake and it served to make the setting more believeable despite the literal space aliens.
Now most games are grounded and boring.
English

@SensOfKnowledge @guriguri751 @sneedofast41854 Actually you can save html files to your computer and view those even offline. Kind of a weird use sure, but you can.
English

@guriguri751 @sneedofast41854 Your internet browser doesn't do anything if you unplug your internet. However, the browser still works and can be used if you connect to a different network.
Social games deliberately break the game if it can not connect.
English

One of the interesting arguments the JP side has had against Stop Killing Games is that to make an offline version or would cost 50% to 100% more of the games original budget to do it.
I'm not sure if this is just a blatant lie, genuine incompetence or total ignorance.
We have guys with no access to the source code able to reverse engineer servers with, relatively speaking, minimal effort.
If Joe Everyman can do it for 0 dollars in his basement without the nessecary information, how come companies that actually have that information apparently can't do?

@twinewss Might be expensive in Japan, but in Finland it is just another cheap lunch choice (11-12 euros for all you can eat). And I think your video exaggerates the soy dipping in Europe. People here tend to soak it more, but not nearly that much.
English

@karliraids @Bielsalmighty @Mangaminx That's trademark, not copyright. Copyright is yours untill your death plus around 90 years to who ever owns it by then. Oh, and it can be renewed indefinetly.
English

@Bielsalmighty @Mangaminx The IP laws even fail at that. In some cases can *lose* your copyright/IP if you don't sue people you know infringe on it
English

I’m done replying to this as I have stuff to do today but I’ll say this.
- Thank you to the JP users who helped me understand more. The ones just yelling at me you entertained me at least.
- Breaking bad laws is not immoral or evil.
- Copyright laws generally suck
- The western view of this is so much more relaxed it’s on another level I don’t think we will ever align on this front but those who had good analogies allowed me to understand more at least.
Minx@Mangaminx
Fascinating difference between Japanese fans and others in the QRTs here. Very worried about copyright infringement when as far as a lot of non-Japanese are concerned it’s important to preserve media. I’d go as far to say it’s morally good to pirate material no longer available myself.

@hwj6OyWszV1WN8U Piracy sites have those too.
As for legal, it gets harder.
However, I can assure you everone else would absolutely advocate for you to have access to those.

@Deadagent @polredra @usoikanokaisou Lack of Japanese skill and knowledge is not the company's fault but yours.
If you don't like them, don't associate them and stop buying their products.
English

@tokei0208 @polredra @usoikanokaisou Boycotts very rarely actually work. Besides, how are you supposed to boycott a product that you like but is tied to a business practice you don't like? Copyright makes these products monopolies so there literally cannot be a competing product legally.
English

@tadika_air150 @BrodieOnLinux I'm really not sure what you're getting at, but boy does the translated text look like something an edgy teenager would write.
Anyway, I made my point. What you make of it is up to you. Have a good day.

@Anibal_Cardozo @Person012345 @linkasobi @guddendeath @realmetmuster @bunburyoudoujp What he described is alot more close to reality than the meme you started this off with.
English

@Person012345 @linkasobi @guddendeath @realmetmuster @bunburyoudoujp Yeah I can also make crazy scenarios in my head and get mad a them. But I think is better to focus on the real world

Anime is by Japanese people, for Japanese people. Non-Japanese people who want to watch it need to keep that in mind.
The stories are written with Japanese sensibilities in mind. Honorifics are used in Japanese to explain where people are in a hierarchy.
San: Respectfully referring to people equal or above you
Kun: Friendly way to refer to males equal or below you
The interaction below is basically expressing, "You don't need to be so formal with me." It is not expressing, "Call me whatever ridiculous nickname you feel is appropriate."
Localizers are vandals.
@
Muse Asia uncensored vs Crunchyroll censored English subs Holy crap. Crunchyroll ruined anime again.
English

@tadika_air150 @BrodieOnLinux I mean, it's not nice necessarily. But people treat copying files without permission about at seriously as crossing an empty street with a red light. Reposting images was pretty much all anyone did during 2000-2010. Even today most meme's are essentially copyright violations.
English

@tadika_air150 @BrodieOnLinux Plagarism is another matter entierly. That's not what were discussing here.
This is about file copying.

@tadika_air150 @BrodieOnLinux Futhermore, stealing something takes away the thing itself from the owner. Internet piracy involves copying files so nobody loses a copy either. You can only argue potential loss of revenue. And even then, some studies say that pirates also buy more media than non pirates.
English

@tadika_air150 @BrodieOnLinux They're easily available as bluray or dvd in japan I'm sure. I doubt you really understand the extent of non-availability for most of this. It's not about not being available in the right format, but just not being available at all.
