@NostalgiaPro Gaming today requires a chunk of money, constant updates, patches, troubleshooting, dealing with glitches, usually constant internet connection, all kinds of accounts and passwords, missing the full experience if you don’t play it right when it first comes out, etc. not worth it

If I could take a minute here and say something about 'modern gaming,' I'm not really a fan. While I was in the hospital yesterday, I wanted a game to play while my wife was taking a nap. She was sleeping comfortably so I could stand down and relax for a bit. I decided to open up Steam on my laptop and take a look at the Spring Sale happening. I saw Call of Duty Modern Warfare for 5 bucks. I figured why not. Let's buy it. It took about 3 hours to download it using the hospital's Wi-Fi, but it worked. Everything was going fine until I decided to start the game. It took nearly 45 minutes to get the game working properly. I'm on a relatively 'high end' laptop - Alienware M16. It can handle just about any modern game with ease. Launching the game from Steam took a couple of minutes. After the game finally launched, Activision required a sign in. I've had an Activision account for years, but I had no idea what my password was. So I had to reset it and then eventually login. After I signed in, the game proceeded to load. The picture looked great, but there was no audio. I was using my Bluetooth Bose 700 headphones. They've been working fine for years. After doing some research, I found the fix was to go into headphones property within Devices and Printers in Windows 11. I had to disable 'hands free telephony' to get the audio to work in game. All of this took right around 45 minutes. That's a ridiculous amount of time just to play a single player campaign. Meanwhile, I could have ran through a whole campaign on an NES game in the amount of time it took to get CoD Modern Warfare to properly function.

Okay real talk despite my last bait post If your nation goes to war for just cause, is it better to: 1.) Fight in the global war, leaving your loved ones vulnerable at home 2.) Staying to defend your family, at the risk of losing the war because men like you didn't fight I know a lot of British men fought in Europe while their hometown was bombed. I can't imagine how that felt. And I believe any global war would immediately become a civil war here. How does one make the right choice? This is obviously a thought experiment, detached from current events. Kind of.

“Ultimately, that means killing his heart and raising him up to new life in Christ.” That doesn't mean physical death. It means death to the old self and born again in Christ. Do these people not know real Christians?

This is the pastor Pete Hegseth brought into the Pentagon during working hours to lead a prayer service. Will Hegseth disavow him now? Of course not, because Hegseth is a fanatical Christian nationalist.

@pnwguerrilla Don’t know how old you are, but I feel like in some ways we didn’t get a chance to fully appreciate it. I’m almost 30. This—these things shown here and more—was constantly slipping from my grasp the entire time I was growing up, and really the last bits of it faded out in 2019…

This was the most profound experience of my life. I am stunned beyond comprehension. This molecule is without peer. The 27mg dose opened up what felt like pure consciousness and intelligence. A majestic reveal of existence itself. In all its incomprehensible glory and majesty. It is impossible to explain with words. Whatever you imagine, multiply it by 1,000 and then add infinite width and depth and dimensions. But entrance was not granted without prerequisite. Existence demanded that I submit. That I say yes; without attachment and without condition. Yes to existence; yes to the dissolution of self; yes to release control; yes, to all. My ego registered the ask and panicked. It wanted control. It was desperate for control. It pleaded to escape from the torrent of light and essence that threatened to rip my sanity into chards. The urge to eject was overwhelming. Terror thundered throughout my mind and body. It took everything within me to release. I overcame and was treated with bliss that defies imagination. A euphoria colored with perfect harmony of all things. An orchestra of essence washed over me and swept me up in dance. It was home. The highest aspiration of intelligent life. For some reason, stored and tucked away as the ultimate prize. A single concept emerged in omnipresence: we cannot grok the preciousness of our existence. Yet it is everything we’ve ever wanted and more. The state we long for without knowing it exists. This caused me great pain and heartache. A swell of loyalty and devotion emerged inside me, pledging allegiance to existence. To become a warrior and caretaker of life on earth. To protect at any cost the candle of consciousness that has miraculously emerged in this part of the galaxy. What awaits will wipe all your tears, soothe all your sorrows, and infinitely exceed your wants.

Reminder that the mainstream media had to essentially be cyberbullied into covering the 2013 Kermit Gosnell trial after refusing to do so for weeks to protect the abortion industry. His crimes were so shockingly evil, but the only thing that finally got the media to cover it was the backlash after a Philly blogger posted this picture of the coutroom's empty press gallery.

Like @BishopBarron points out, Project Hail Mary is drenched in Christian imagery. A man named Grace inhabits the Hail Mary. "Hail Mary, full of Grace..." That's not an accident. Wonderful film.

I just saw the much talked about film “Project Hail Mary.” It's very entertaining and uplifting and features a fine performance from Ryan Gosling. But what most intrigued me were the powerful Christian themes at play in it. The title, of course, refers to the Hail Mary pass in football, since the adventure undertaken is a fairly desperate attempt to save the planet. But it also becomes eminently clear that the reference is not just to football but to the Blessed Mother herself, for the Gosling character is undoubtedly a Christ-figure. I don't want to give away too much of the plot, but it involves a willingness to sacrifice one's life utterly in order to deliver the entire human race from disaster. It is, of course, no accident that Gosling's character is called Ryland Grace, for throughout the movie, his presence and actions constitute undeserved favor to others. A particularly intriguing character in the film is a sober German scientist who relentlessly presses Grace to make the supreme sacrifice, even when he is unwilling. She represented for me the great moral demand that presses upon us throughout our lives, continually summoning us to self-gift. A last observation: Jesus had a second in command whom he called Peter (the Rock); Ryland Grace has a very unusual sidekick whom he calls “Rocky.” I'll leave it at that. I know lots of people say that Christianity is in irreversible decline and that we are inhabiting, at least in the West, a post-Christian society. I'm not so sure. Like it or not, we remain a Christ-haunted culture—and a film like “Project Hail Mary” makes this clear.

I think that the reason we have seen such a collapse in the “podcast class” of the right is simple: they’re excellent to listen to when Biden is in office because they know how to criticize him and oppose his policies. But they have no idea what to do with power.

So now we’re at the point where if you don’t carry appendix… you’re supposedly just fat and untrained? Yeah, no. I carry appendix. A lot. But this weird idea that every other carry position means something is wrong with you is straight-up nonsense. Not everybody wants to spend all day pointing a gun at their femoral artery just because the internet decided appendix carry is the only “serious” way to carry. Some people carry appendix. Some people carry 3 o’clock. Some people care more about speed. Some care more about comfort. Some care more about risk. That doesn’t make one person tougher and the other person trash. So let’s settle this in the comments: What position do you carry in most of the time? Appendix or strong side? And be honest… Do you think people who shame others for not carrying appendix are helping the gun community… or just showing off? Comment: APPENDIX or STRONG SIDE And then tell me why. Let’s see where the real split is. youtu.be/9gXk2auRw64?si…
