Don't let up on "British Isles" by the way. Don't be shamed or mocked into silence. It does matter. Even the Oxford English Dictionary acknowledges the term Brytish Iles comes from John Dee in 1577, who also coined the term British Empire. British Isles and British Empire are part of the same project and it's completely legitimate to object.
