Wow who could’ve predicted that Crimson Desert would be an extremely vast, contextless tech demo ocean with the depth of a puddle and absolutely nothing interesting beyond its scale.

If Pearl Abyss' goal was to make Kliff the least interesting protagonist in gaming, then fair enough because they did just that.

@digitalfoundry @dark1x Im getting massive screen tearing with vsync off even when I'm in the vrr range above 48. Any idea what's up with that?

Along with everyone else, we're still waiting for our Crimson Desert retail console codes to unlock - but while you wait, here's @dark1x with a look at the PS5 Pro version running at 4K HDR in quality mode along with gameplay thoughts: youtu.be/QCOFJUG9Q2I

@Nick_Marseil @Yaboynosworc Apparently you don't. You absolutely want to turn on vsync in Crimson desert

@HDRgameAnalysis Set it to 40 on my G5 as well. Looks much more natural and nuanced.

Quick preliminary setup guide for Crimson Desert on PC and PS5.
I have only had very little time with the game. But this is how I would set up HDR on a 1000 and 2000 nits TV. Picture 1 is my settings for a 1000 nits TV and picture 3 for a 2000 nits TV.
HDR is implemented the same way on PC and PS5.
Black levels:
There are no setting to adjust black levels. Luckily they look fine, so those we don’t have to worry about.
Max luminance:
Max brightness is setup in-game. Set to what your TV can output on a 10% window. The game outputs the nits you set in the slider. Thats great because not all games do that.
Screen brightness (exposure).
The exposure slider adjusts the brightness on the whole screen. For a 1000 nits TV we want around a screen brightness (paper white) of around 203 nits. A setting of 40 looks to be around 203 nits to me. In picture 2 we can see brigntess is around 203 nits at exposure setting of 40.
For a 2000 nits TV we want a higher screen brightness. When our TVs can output higher max brightness then there are room for higher screen brightness while our highlights can still pop.
I suggest setting exposure to 50. In picture 4 we see screen brightness is around 280-300 nits.
I won’t suggest going lower than 40 or much higher than 50 for exposure, because exposure slightly changes lower shadows and I think they will get to low or to lifted.
I noticed that at night fire lights up everything with a red glow or color. It looks very unnatural. We can’t change that in-game, but maybe there will be mods for PC that corrects this.
HDR overall looks punchy with great contrast and black levels.

@foxygames_uk And I love the soundtrack. A mixture between Oblivion and Lord of the rings 🙌

Played my first hour with #CrimsonDesert, the game is so stunning, pristine 4K quality sharp using #PSSR2 balance mode.
Probably THE Most environmentally alive open world I've experienced yet.
Pearl Abyss clearly influenced by Zelda BotW / Witcher 3, with touch of souls #PS5Pro

Crimson Desert is one of the most beautiful games I’ve ever struggled to play. The world looks next-gen, but the controls feel like they’re fighting me at every turn. Between the lighting bugs and trying to hit tiny interaction prompts, I spend more time in the settings menu than in the actual game. I wanted to love it, but after an hour and a half of fighting with it, I decided to refund it. #CrimsonDesert
English

@DetectiveSeeds Yeah, playing balanced mode but motion blur off and vsync on are a must
English

@videotechuk_ What exactly do you mean? Playing non-stop since launch and having zero issues

MW19 only sucks for people who didn’t understand what made the original COD games good in the first place.

How has COD went so downhill since Modern Warfare 2019?
English

@VisualFidelity It is one of the most interesting titles of all times. I couldn't compare it to another existing game.
English

@xShephardx Hope this game has new game plus. Otherwise it's not worth it I feel

Im good, sub 80 on Metacritic is just not worth my time.

Are you buying Crimson Desert?
English

This is not happening.
If Sony made $2.4b on Steam, they would make significantly less putting games on PC less Steam (and presumably less GOG, EGS as well).
Not paying Steam that 30% would not make up the loss of volume sales.

Latest rumors. - Sony will sell their PC games on their own store. - Some think Wolverine may release day 1 on PC, but will require a Sony launcher and PSN account. ---> This way they can avoid PC Games on Helix. A PSN launcher have been rumored for years already...
