Its also on Nexus Mods, I see.

I think #LegoBatman: Legacy of the Dark Night is a good looking Unreal Engine 5 game.
It looks great with HDR when using the RenoDX Multi-Game mod, extended version. See picture 1.
Have HDR ON in-game and HDR Upgrade Path Off in RenoDX. Changes to sliders in RenoDX only take effect after entering the in-game HDR menu/settings.

HDR analysis #LegoBatman: Legacy of the Dark Knight.
I only played the PC version, but HDR is most likely similar implemented on Xbox and Playstation consoles.
Another low effort HDR implementation, unfortunately.
The game uses Unreal Engine 5. It seams they simply used the standard HDR solution in UE5 with a few tweaks to the sliders.
The standard UE5 HDR implementation will not use the colors the artists created for the game. Its clear to see if you play a little in SDR and then in HDR. Shadows are overdarkened and colors way to saturated in HDR compared to SDR. You may like it, and nothing wrong with that, but its not how the artists intended the game to look.
Picture 1 and 3 is HDR and picture 2 and 4 is SDR. Notice the colors difference.
We only have one in-game slider. Its a peak luminance slider, and it goes up to 2000 nits. The game outputs a bit less than that. 970 nits at 1000 nits on the slider and 1800 nits at 2000 nits on the slider. Its not the biggest issue.
We have no way of adjusting shadows or paper white independently.
On PC we can, as always, use the RenoDX Multigame mod. I tried the extended version and it made HDR look like SDR.

English

@CisDonkers Use the one on Nexus Mods.
Its the extended version. The same as Im using.
English

@HDRgameAnalysis There is a renodx mod on the nexus page now. Should I use that or the multi game one?
English

@YT_MrRobot Copy this line into the search bar on the Discords. Thats where I got it.
""""Fix to preserve original look in LEGO Batman Legacy""""
English

@KittySarah8 You can use the RenoDX Multi Game mod for Unreal Engine.
I use the extented version. It works fine. Get the file from the Discord.
English

@HDRgameAnalysis Any signs of a Renodx mod coming for this game?

CX OLED can do 800 nits max according to Rtings. So set max brightness to 800 nits on the slider.
The CX is quite dim in game mode, due to it using ABL dimming. So maybe also use DTM on your TV to increase midtone brightness.
If the shadows are too dark, then try 55-60%. I see some recommend that for something close to SDRs lifted shadows.
English

@Fendera_ Time is such a limitation for me, so I only (or mostly) focus on the games I plan on playing myself.
I have no personal interest in that game.
English

@HDRgameAnalysis What do you mean by bigger? Don't let the art style blind you to the success the game is going to have. When you check their prior games, like the Octopath Traveler franchise, which sold over 7 million copies.
English

@KGWsh0rt HDR is still MUCH better than SDR, on a good HDR capable display.
HDR does not need to be perfect to have a huge positive impact on the visuals.
English

@HDRgameAnalysis It feels like there’s only 3-4 games with actual good HDR implementation. Makes the feature feel pointless sometimes if it consistently can’t be used right
English

@Fendera_ I have to focus my time on the bigger games, sorry.
English

@HDRgameAnalysis Is there any chance you could check out "The Adventures of Elliot"? There's a free demo, and the game is coming out next month. HDR is present in the demo, but there's only an in-game brightness slider, which I believe has no impact on the brightness of the specular highlights.
English

@Dk06C You are right.
2000 nits on the slider (1800 nits ingame) is not enough today.
English

@HDRgameAnalysis Unfortunate that im loosing 700 nits of brightness on the peak for my G5 😏
English

@Titus14310798 I had HDR on.
You can use it with both HDR on and off, depending on settings.
What is best to use for this game, I don’t know.
English

@HDRgameAnalysis But in your images with UE extended did you disable ingame or not?
English

@xAZERALx LG C4 can do 920 nits max, according to Rtings.
So set the max brightness slider to 900 nits.
English

@Titus14310798 Its best to seek advance about RenoDX on the Discord.
English

@HDRgameAnalysis When you use the Renodx UE extended, do you disable the HDR ingame?
English

Try and set your monitor in HDR Peak 1500 and Hypernits to high.
According to Rtings your monitor can do 1300 nits on very small bright highlights in dark scenes but only 546 nits bright highlights in real scenes (brighter scenes).
First setup paper white to get the overall brightness you want. Then go into my numbers and select the peak brightness you need to set on the slider to get the 1300 nits output.
For instance try 250 nits paper white and 1500 nits peak brightness on the in-game sliders. The game will then output 1250 nits max.
English

@HDRgameAnalysis If your still helping people with settings, the monitor I have is the Gigabyte MO27Q28G. Would really appreciate the help!

Help with setting up HDR in Forza Horizon 6 on PC.
The game does not output the max luminance you setup on the in-game peak brightness slider, unless you have a display capable of 800 nits or less.
Below I have shown what the game will output in its brightest highlights (most of the time) at the listed in-game peak brightness and paper white settings.
- First number is what you setup on the in-game Peak Brightness slider.
- Second number is what you setup on the in-game Content Paper White slider.
- Third number is what the game will output in the brightest highlights most of the time.
When you increase paper white the midtone brightness increase, but the lower shadows also increases a bit. We unfortunately can not adjust shadows independently, so it will have to be a choice between what peak brightness you want, how bright the game must be to you overall (midtones) and what black levels you prefer.
I hope this will help you setup HDR better😊
