Let's see. Iran was earning $50 billion per year before the war from oil exports, and under a blanket of sanctions. Now its $100 billion per year sanctions free. Also, the $2 million per ship through Hormuz will generate up to a $90 billion per year of fee income under normal traffic. So what was $50 billion per year of dark money is potentially $150 billion of greenbacks and yuan. Looks like the mullahs have been reading "The Art of the Deal", too.

@Windspiriteagle @SethAMandel Every foreign leader who comes to the WH does so to advocate for the national interests of his/her country. None of them hold a gun to the head of the POTUS. Trump is responsible for his own decisions, and the American people are responsible for electing Trump to be their POTUS.

Read the NYT piece and even the anon leaks don't actually make it appear to be "Bibi's war" or whatever. Article says Trump wanted to do two things: decapitate the regime that tried to kill him and stomp their missiles. His CIA chief said doable. So he ordered it done.

What's actually happening here is the President has embraced the "mad man" theory and is trying to convince the Iranians that he's willing to do whatever to wipe them out in hopes of getting a deal. The failure is that the President, like so many others, doesn't actually appreciate that the Iranians are mad men who live in a fundamentally religious world where they really do believe they are to wipe out Israel and their citizens are expendable. But no, this is not an unhinged President. It's a man playing a role as a negotiation tactic. Unfortunately, the President is going to be backed into a corner of extreme options by doing this, or be mocked for TACO again.

@neoavatara I don't think Trump will be so eager to go along with Bibi anymore. This could strain relations between these two leaders/nations for the rest of Trump/MAGA's time in charge. I don't foresee Trump making a comeback in popularity from here on out.

I'm a neocon. I'm ok with going to war with Iran... If we have a goal and a plan. What's clear is Trump doesn't know what his goal is, and certainly has no plan. Especially with nukes. If Iran says no compromise on nukes (which is by far the most likely result), then what?
