Euston is easily, easily the worst main station in Western Europe. It’s like being taken away to be machine gunned in the woods by various mobile phone and soft drinks companies. Congrats to everyone involved

@ianf @ChombaBupe True, I agree. But I say the responsibility lies on the person who blindly copy pastes code without trying to understand what it does :D

This was obvious to anyone with experience programming software: Programming is 95% understanding the problem + formulating a robust solution then 5% sitting down to write the actual code. Language models can't do 95% of software development & still awful at the remaining 5%.
Song I Sung of the Mun, Mike@ThBoneOfMySword

In tech, especially programming, we're finding that a large swath are getting their code generated in like 5 minutes where it'd take them like 3 hours to write it but they're now spending much longer debugging said code because it's crap and they didn't write it

@whocaresletmein @ChombaBupe It might not be obvious garbage though, it could be working code with an off by one error, or some other boundary condition problem

@ChombaBupe That's a given. If it gave me garbage I'll notice right away because the code does not work. Then I likely know what's wrong and can fix it or I tell the ghost in the shell that the code doesn't work and to fix it. If the context is ruined I try again with a better prompt.

@JENDELLA Interesting article … thanks for sharing. I guess it’s a tangential point, but I do wonder, though, whether Cote D’Ivoire (and other former French colonies) can truly be post-colonial until Francafrique is ended and they have control over their own money and politics

I am forever grateful for my @mit experiences. I went to the @mitcoop to pick up some swag and was pleasantly surprised to see my book on display. I’ve gotten used to walking into many book stores and learning they don’t carry Unmasking AI, or if they do it is tucked away somewhere in the back. I don’t take it for granted when my work is recognized because erasure and marginalization are themes I still continue to navigate. And still we rise. And still we write. And still we walk with gratitude in our hearts.

Has anyone ever ordered from Amazon USA from the UK? Is it possible and did you pay any extra fee when it came here?

@lolababz_ I didn’t pay any extra fees. It did say that I would be responsible for any import tax, but there didn’t seem to be any. That was March last year, so fairly recent

@ianf Thanks for replying me :) My order is literally from Amazon UK and they do ship to UK. I just want to know about potential fees when it arrives.

@lolababz_ Don’t know if this is possible for your order, but got something from Amazon USA by ordering on Amazon UK. It was just like ordering from UK but dispatched from US. Price was in £, no extra fees, but came from US via international carrier
