Happy Birthday to the late Hoyt Axton, out of Duncan, Oklahoma; Singer, songwriter, and actor with deep roots in Oklahoma, often famously stating, “Oklahoma is the cultural center of the universe.”—he was born in Duncan, Oklahoma, and spent his pre-teen years in Comanche—his mother, Mae Boren Axton, was a legendary songwriter who co-wrote Elvis Presley first major hit, “Heartbreak Hotel. ( she was a prominent educator and promoter in Oklahoma, teaching in several towns including Broken Bow, Moore, and Ada)—Hoyt was the first cousin of David Boren, who served as the Governor of Oklahoma and a U.S. Senator)—he attended @okstate on a football scholarship before joining the @USNavy —Even after achieving fame in Hollywood, Axton maintained a 700-acre ranch in Holdenville, Oklahoma, which included a 200-acre lake ( he often remarked that if his career ever failed, he would happily retire there to fish)—On November 1, 2007, both Hoyt and his mother were posthumously inducted into the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame in Muskogee; 3-25-1938 to 10-26-1999 ( aged 61)…..

In Milford, Michigan, a senior dog named Lil’ Craig was rescued from freezing temperatures. He was found abandoned on a porch during a night when temperatures were below zero. Officers from the Milford Police Department responded to a call about the stray dog and took him in.
After efforts to locate the dog's owner failed, the Milford Police Department decided to adopt Lil’ Craig. They had posted about him on social media and checked with animal control, but no one came forward to claim him. The department felt it was best to give him a permanent home.
Lil’ Craig now lives at the Milford Police station, where he is cared for by the officers. He has undergone medical and dental procedures and is being treated for a cold. Despite his age and health issues, he brings joy and comfort to the officers and visitors at the station.
Lil’ Craig has become a beloved member of the police team, providing companionship and stress relief to the officers.
The Milford Police Department supports animal rescue efforts by partnering with the Puppies Behind Bars nonprofit program, which trains incarcerated individuals to raise service dogs for various purposes, including facility dogs for police departments. This initiative not only helps provide trained dogs like Alamo to the department but also promotes rehabilitation and community service among the participants.

@whodamoose I remember our church hosted a screening of “The Hiding Place.” Great movie then went to find the book at the library. Late 70s. Nice pick.

I served at a parish in Michigan where at almost every mass on Sundays there were lawnmowers parked in the parking lot.
They were driven by people coming to church who, because of DUIs, were not allowed to drive cars anymore.
So they brought their lawn mowers to church.
I love Michigan

There's a line in Michigan where north of it you start seeing snowmobiles parked outside restaurants and bars. Real north.

@DanWolken We were in the Netherlands a couple years ago and attended a pro game where Upshaw played for the opposing team. Immediate memory unlocked of that upset game.

Was there in St Louis to cover this one and never saw it coming. Michigan St was a trendy national champion pick that year. MTSU was a 10-loss team that had a collective out of body experience.
