You don't even have to scale to the global use base, really. Old saw by now, but imagine if Excel got 10% of its formulae wrong or if a word processor returned the incorrect letter for 10% of keystrokes or if a piston failed on 1 in every 10 strokes in an ICE.

Was talking about this with a few people the other day— water doesn’t disappear or get “used up”, but bc of how the properties of conservation work, some localities will experience water shortages bc data centers are such a huge sink on a given region’s resources

they don't 'use all the water' but their water usage can come into conflict with other water usages given specific infrastructures, withdrawal points, reservoir capacities, etc. it is not necessarily an irresolvable issue but it is one already happening across the US

We don't need to focus inward and police "the community" of American leftism to enforce consensus; you can simply grow your coalition and win. The folks with bad strategies and bad tactics and incorrect focus (disciplining/shaming/policing other leftists in pursuit of ideological homogeneity) will sort themselves out, either by getting on board or sloughing off.

The critics who talk about LLM's hallucination problem are, IME, completely correct. Other than for coding, I just use the chatbots as glorified search engines, and I don't think you should trust a word they say if you can't find a link to back it up.
