@WanderCoventry @ianbremmer Except they weren't assessing impending genocide. They were assessing how to be invested given the surrounding macro on an investment network. I'm sure Sara is disgusted by Trump and this war.
English

@Windspiriteagle @ianbremmer Assessing a potential impending genocide through a financial lens is heartless and soulless.
English

@neoavatara You're paying far too much "attention to this matter." Hopefully the rest of us are too. 😉
English

This aged...poorly.
Again, how is this possibly not TACO?

One month ago.
English

@mattyglesias Except that we are all now worse off. Things didn't go back to zero. The tactic and strategy failed.
English

@neoavatara And the ceasefire doesn't seem to be adhered to at all by the other two parties. Seems like all we got out of TACO Tuesday was a semi-closed strait, new tariffs/higher gas/oil prices and a more radicalized Iran. I'm tired of so much winning.
English

So now they accept that it's real?

Let's see. Iran was earning $50 billion per year before the war from oil exports, and under a blanket of sanctions. Now its $100 billion per year sanctions free. Also, the $2 million per ship through Hormuz will generate up to a $90 billion per year of fee income under normal traffic. So what was $50 billion per year of dark money is potentially $150 billion of greenbacks and yuan. Looks like the mullahs have been reading "The Art of the Deal", too.
English

@AstorAaron That's a question Trump should be asking...but probably won't.
English

Is there an actual ceasefire or not? This isn't a case of info not yet reaching the front lines.

Strikes hit an Iranian oil refinery on Lavan Island today. Iran is now retaliating with strikes on targets in Kuwait, Bahrain, and the UAE.
English

@Windspiriteagle @wsteaks @nytimes Both parts are likely a Vance leak. Trying to distance himself while keeping MAGA base for his 2028 run.
English

Appears only Vance told Trump Iran strikes were a “bad idea” in final Situation Room meeting, per @nytimes

Iran Deal By Obama:
•Strait of Hormuz open for free
•Iran limits Uranium enrichment
•Iran agrees to make no nuclear weapons
•Iran allows Int'l inspectors to ensure compliance
•Inspectors confirm Iran's full compliance
Iran Ceasefire By Trump:
•Strait of Hormuz closed, only open for $2M Per Ship
•Iran makes no guarantee of limit on uranium enrichment
•Iran makes no guarantee of no nuclear weapons
•Iran makes no guarantee to allow Int'l inspectors

@mdubowitz @EliLake This guy is a self-deluded idiot. Get out of FP. Iran is as isolated as it ever was. The country is now controlled by an even more radicalized IRGC. We now have expensive shipping tariffs and fewer ships getting through. Uranium remains. The military is only temporarily degraded
English

All of this leaves Iran’s battered regime in a difficult position. It has survived for now. But it’s never been poorer, weaker, or more isolated…Considering the alternatives, TACO Tuesday has never been sweeter, writes @elilake thefp.com/p/trumps-madma…
English

@mblcta1 @SethAMandel 💯 But "victory has a thousand fathers. Defeat is an orphan." No one will claim responsibility for their role in this colossal screw-up.
English

@Windspiriteagle @SethAMandel Every foreign leader who comes to the WH does so to advocate for the national interests of his/her country. None of them hold a gun to the head of the POTUS. Trump is responsible for his own decisions, and the American people are responsible for electing Trump to be their POTUS.
English

@PhillipsPOBrien On the tolls: Trump sure loves tariffs....
English

It’s a total fold by Trump. Iran gets to charge tolls and develop nukes. And the Iranian regime stays in power. What a waste all this was.

@EWErickson The "mad-man" theory doesn't work if everyone knows you'll chicken out and thinks of you as a bumbling idiot with a short attention span and no ability to make or stick to a plan. The vast majority of ppl don't live in a MAGA bubble.
English

What's actually happening here is the President has embraced the "mad man" theory and is trying to convince the Iranians that he's willing to do whatever to wipe them out in hopes of getting a deal. The failure is that the President, like so many others, doesn't actually appreciate that the Iranians are mad men who live in a fundamentally religious world where they really do believe they are to wipe out Israel and their citizens are expendable. But no, this is not an unhinged President. It's a man playing a role as a negotiation tactic. Unfortunately, the President is going to be backed into a corner of extreme options by doing this, or be mocked for TACO again.

English

@GuntherEagleman Narrator voice: Iran is still lobbing missiles at SA and Israel. Ships are now taxed by Iran for passing thru the Strait of Hormuz. The strait was open before this and gas was half the price it is now. Iran still has its enriched uranium. There was no regime change in Iran.
English

@neoavatara I don't think Trump will be so eager to go along with Bibi anymore. This could strain relations between these two leaders/nations for the rest of Trump/MAGA's time in charge. I don't foresee Trump making a comeback in popularity from here on out.
