*The most pathetic thing I've seen in parliament, ever* Dawn Butler MP says Sarah Pochin MP's iss racist Deputy Speaker tells her off and tells her to withdraw the remark Butler repeats, Pochin is racist Deputy Speaker tells her off again for calling another MP a racist Butler repeats what Pochin said and says that is a racist comment Deputy Speaker says its not the comment, but the fact that you called another MP racist Butler, "You're giving me deja vu. I appreciate in this house we have to be respectful and not call MPs what they actually are. The comment is a racist comment. It's strange I can't call her out for being a racist, having made a racist comment" Deputy Speaker, "Please, time and time again, please consider withdrawing the comment about a member of this house being a racist" Butler, "I don't want to be thrown out of parliament again. So I will withdraw the fact that I am referring to the member of parliament as a racist because of her racist comment" Deputy Speaker waffles on for a bit How tragic for our democracy that it is more important to be polite about an MP than to point out that the MP is a racist based on actual racist remarks from said MP

@implausibleblog Yes, MPs should be free to hurl insults at each other in the House. They do that in South Africa, it works very well. When they run out of insults they begin hurling furniture at each other, it's fine.

@implausibleblog Sarah Pochin needs to raise a point of order against Dawn Butler for unparliamentary remarks and demand an apology, otherwise refer to the standards committee.

@implausibleblog It wasn’t a racist remark though was it. We all know she was on about proportional representation on adverts and how out of reality it is. 85% of UK population is white. As such 85% of people on adverts should be, however it’s the opposite. Hence her remark is about that fact.

@implausibleblog It's not racism when the statistics are in agreement. It's fact. I was never pissed off seeing POC in adverts. I was pissed off that white people were being erased. POC were also pissed off for the same reason.

@implausibleblog If ever there was an example of the need to bring our House of government into the modern age. It needs to be modernised beyond belief. Outdated pageantry takes president over it's real job.Ridiculous rules overriding honesty. They live in a non representative coddled world

@implausibleblog Not rasict just the truth. No whites in positions of power in Afghanistan, Algeria, Yemen, Syria, India, Pakistan, Nigeria, China, Japan, none in the middle east. None in ads or even on the TV at all. Only in western countries do we have DEI & 'diversity' relentlessly promoted.

@implausibleblog @LilaTamea That just goes to show that the Deputy Speaker is not neutral. MP Dawn Butler was 100% right to state a fact, but she was reproached for it as if stating that someone was racist (when it is based on factual information) is an opinion. Just appalling that racism is condoned!

@implausibleblog I’m white, & I’m sickened & disgusted by this. That white woman lecturing Butler this way & referring to showing example to the public is absolutely wrong. The public support racists being called what they are, racist. Her cold demeanour too was a disgrace. What a cesspit !

This is such tedious point scoring. Pochin’s comments were a bit unguarded. However she’s not the first person to have made the observation. And there is data to back up her claims. I suppose it distracts us from the awful mess the country is in. But I would much prefer it if politicians just got on with their job.

@implausibleblog Dawn Butler is entirely correct to call out another MP for being a racist. She knows racism when she sees it. The ‘respect’ called for by the Deputy Speaker is spurious.

@implausibleblog This is fucking crap, add this to the 'no debating the royals' shit and it's clear the speaker is serving as a hindrance to actual debate. Well past time we got rid of these useless cunts and had an actual democratic parliament.

@implausibleblog Racism is off the charts in Britain at the moment and being fully stoked by the billionaire owned media that want to Reform to win so they can privatise everything and never pay taxes or face regulations.
