@lessin Agreed. Everyone has writer's block. But everyone can start talking instantly. Talking is the easiest way to express an idea. Even though talking and speech are not as precise as writing, because it's so easy, people can iterate and fine tune their expression quickly.

Can one conversation change your life? Yes. Here is @Goopt Sam Liang talking to me in 2012 in the doorway of an Atherton house. We talked for a couple of hours, he had just left the Google Mapping team. The conversation caused me and Shel Israel to write “Age of Context.” a.co/d/dFYd9tP About how context would change all software. @salesforce’s CEO @Benioff wrote the forward. Sam later started @otter_ai. And the book proved prescient. Still is. @karpathy calls prompt engineering now contextual engineering. This single conversation changed my life for sure.

I’ve started joining every Google Meet 30 seconds early. When you join early, everyone’s virtual note takers join early too. I spend the first few seconds screaming about how I’m on the Titanic, we’ve just hit an iceberg, the end is near, and I need immediate assistance. I then do the rest of the meeting normally. When the meeting ends, everyone gets an emailed transcript where the AI summary is: “Chris hit an iceberg, is trapped on a sinking ship, and general Q2 pricing updates”

Did a fireside chat yesterday at an AI conference, and then got a bunch of very polished emails summarizing key points of my chat, telling me how insightful I was, and asking to meet. Clearly: audio intake --> transcript --> AI --> email. Interesting to see these little emergent moments where AI is being used. How it raises the floor for these types of interactions. How if you aren't using AI, you will get left behind.
