@TheOnlyRobmdk So because Van der Ven is quick, all defenders now have to be quick?

Spurs fans moaning about Van Hecke now, saying he's "not quick enough". I'd rather we sign players who can play football, keep possession over those that can't pass or understand the basics of the game. He's an excellent CB.

@RobKenyonReform She's right when she say closing the borders won't solve it. But misses the point that if the borders were never open, the crisis wouldn't exist.

Andy Burnham has suggested Brexit would not have happened if he had been Labour leader in 2016. In a New Statesman interview the Greater Manchester Mayor said the referendum “could have played out differently” if he had beaten Jeremy Corbyn for the leadership the year before. Burnham, a Remainer, said he would have pushed David Cameron and George Osborne for “serious changes” to Britain’s EU membership and made a more “patriotic case” for Remain focused on Britain’s history of defending Europe, rather than just economic arguments. He added that his wife thinks the outcome might have been different. The comments come as Burnham fights a tough by-election in Brexit-voting Makerfield against Reform UK while senior Labour figures privately worry he is positioning himself to challenge Keir Starmer for the leadership.

I heard possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard today. & 2nd time I've heard it this week. A radio host was talking about the importance of Vitamin D, & how sunlight is main source. He said an expert dermatologist says we should get sun for D, but MUST WEAR SUNSCREEN. Bro. Sunscreen physically BLOCKS all vitamin D production, that's literally what it was meant to do.

👀 Glenn Hoddle knows a thing or two about big World Cup calls and says he would’ve taken Phil Foden. He joined Olivia Buzaglo on Episode 1 of The Buz to discuss his England journey and look ahead to this summer’s tournament. Watch the full episode on our YouTube channel.

Right, it's 15 degrees outside here in Suffolk, blowing a gale and we've had torrential downpours. Again. It's flaming June. And I've just put the heating on. I'm not happy. 😠

🚨 CLIMATE EMERGENCY WARNING 🚨 If the developing Super El Niño evolves as projected, 2027 could become the hottest year in recorded human history. Read that again. The relatively modest 2023–24 El Niño helped push global temperatures to around 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels. Now scientists and weather observers are watching a potentially much stronger event emerge across the Pacific. 🌡️ A world already at record heat + a major Super El Niño = a climate shock unlike anything modern society has experienced. Think about what that means: 🔥 Extreme heatwaves becoming longer and deadlier 💧 Severe droughts and water shortages 🌾 Crop failures and food inflation ⚡ Power grids pushed to their limits 🌲 Explosive wildfire seasons 🏥 Rising heat-related illnesses and deaths The chart is chilling. In 1998, one of the strongest El Niño events on record pushed temperatures sharply higher. In 2024, a weaker El Niño shattered records anyway. What happens if a true monster El Niño arrives on a planet that is already hotter than ever before? We may be about to find out. 2027 is not guaranteed to break records. But the possibility of global temperatures approaching 1.7°C–2.0°C above pre-industrial levels should be enough to trigger immediate preparation worldwide. The next 18 months could define climate history. 🌍 The Climate Casino is loading the dice. #ElNino #SuperElNino #ClimateCrisis #GlobalWarming #Heatwave #ClimateEmergency #ENSO #ExtremeHeat

Sainsbury's has cracked the climate. Brown eggs are out, white eggs are in, because the white ones come with a 12.7% smaller carbon footprint. The hens that lay white eggs are a bit smaller and eat slightly less feed. That is the whole breakthrough. Not less eggs, not fewer hens, not one cow spared. A marginally lighter chicken. This is what corporate net zero has been reduced to. A grocer that pledged a billion pounds and sponsored COP26 now hunting carbon savings in the colour of an eggshell, while telling you it is "better for the environment and the hens." The planet is saved one paler breakfast at a time. The same chain vacuum-packed its mince into mush for the climate. Now it wants applause for changing the shell colour of an egg that tastes, by its own admission, exactly the same. A cow on a hill turns grass no human can eat into food, on land that grows nothing else. That is real, ancient, irreplaceable efficiency. Sainsbury's looked at the entire food system and decided the frontier of planetary salvation was a whiter egg. Somewhere a marketing department is very proud. The hen has no idea it is on a mission.

This is the biggest STATEMENT #thfc could possibly make. Would be a very tough deal, but if we’re serious and they want to win the fans over, they need to go to Newcastle and make them an offer they can’t refuse. Then follow it up by making Bruno an offer he can’t refuse. 🇧🇷👑

Police have to react to the limited details they know, THEN assess and reevaluate. They turn up to multiple (false, but they don't know that of the time) allegations of a drunk, abusive and violent man. They detain that man (in case he is drunk, abusive and violent) and then assess. Within one minute they release the man and switch into (a) trying to save his life and (b) securing the scene and detaining suspects for a GBH / Murder inquiry. And this apparently is evidence of racism. I genuinely don't get it.
