The majestic panel of Avalokiteshvara located in Cave No. 7 of the Aurangabad Caves is seen on the verandah, beside the entrance door, as the saviour in the form known as ‘Ashtamahabhaya Avalokiteshvara’ (the protector from the eight great perils). This 6th-7th cen. CE image is large and imposing where his right hand is shown in Abhaya mudra, while his left hand holds a lotus stalk. A small figure of the Buddha is carved on his Jaṭāmukuṭa. Scenes representing various dangers are carved in four brackets on either side of the figure. On the left side, the first scene shows two people pleading to Avalokiteshvara in fear of fire. The second depicts a bandits attacking two individuals with a sword. The third shows two prisoners, with a man standing behind them holding a chain. The fourth represents a shipwreck. On the right side, the first three scenes depict attacks by a lion, snakes, and an elephant respectively. The fourth scene shows a demon attacking a couple; the woman is holding an infant, while the man stands with folded hands in prayer. In all these scenes, the devotees are shown worshipping the Bodhisattva with deep compassion and devotion, while Avalokiteshvara appears in a flying posture, protecting them. Among the known examples, this representation stands out for its artistic approach and its effective visual composition.

Ernst Chladni was a German physicist and musician, often called "the father of acoustics." In the late 18th century, he developed a technique that made sound visible: he sprinkled sand on metal plates and bowed them with a violin bow. The sand migrated to the nodal lines revealing geometric patterns now known as Chladni figures. In 1808 when Napoleon saw the demonstration and was so impressed he offered a prize for the best mathematical explanation. Sophie Germain, a self-taught French mathematician was the only entrant who got the approach right - though her solution had some flaws. She became the first woman to win a prize from the Paris Academy of Sciences for her work on elasticity theory. The math describing Chladni figures later showed up in quantum mechanics when Schrödinger used similar mathematics to describe electron orbitals.

Philosophy Of Physics
Philosophy Of Physics@PhilosophyOfPhy·
In 1943, physicist Erwin Schrödinger delivered a remarkable series of public lectures, asking a question few physicists had seriously considered: What is life? At a time when biology and physics were largely separate, he attempted to bridge them. His lectures, published in 1944 as What Is Life?, Introduced a bold idea: genetic information must be stored in what he called an “aperiodic crystal,” a structure stable enough to preserve order yet complex enough to encode life itself. The book did more than speculate; it inspired. A generation of young scientists found in it a new direction. Among them were Francis Crick and James Watson, who would go on to uncover the double helix structure of DNA. Both later acknowledged that Schrödinger’s ideas guided them toward the emerging field of molecular biology. A decade later, in 1953, just months after that discovery, Crick wrote to Schrödinger, expressing deep gratitude. He noted that What Is Life? had sparked both his and Watson’s interest in genetics. Even more striking was how close Schrödinger’s intuition had come: the “aperiodic crystal” was no longer a hypothesis, but a reality. Today, What Is Life? remains a rare kind of scientific work, one that did not solve a problem directly, but changed the direction of those who would.
