@purves_liam @FlatCapFromWN5 We did Nîmes in France to Córdoba in Spain in one day last year, 850 miles, but changing in Madrid. Aberdeen to Penzance is still the longest single train journey I've done - and well worth it!

@FlatCapFromWN5 Oh, not only the Longest train journey... but a cheeky wee start from Ardgay too! Only way I can think to be longer distance, is Eurostar and then a TGV?

3yrs ago, I took on the challenge of completing one of the longest possible journeys in the space of a day. To this day, it is one of the best things I've ever done and something I'd either love to do again, or try to push for an even longer journey if possible. 😁

@WillFlux @KevEdwardsRetro I just totted up that it would cost us £26 billion for the storage that we have in our NAS and the backups! How times have changed!

A good reminder to keep an eye on the whole sky, not just the north, if you’re in Scotland or northern England.

@NatTrustArch Lovely to see this photo - we relaid some of the cobbles in that yard on a working holiday about 20 years ago. We also cleared the area under the tower in the Abbey for it to be reopened and found some of the original floor tiles and oyster shells.

@skamille We had excellent paella at Baco Borbolla in Seville. It's close to the Plaza de España.

@seatsixtyone I'm interested when the data that is already available is correct. Until then: garbage-in-garbage-out. For example, a simple journey from London to Tamworth only seems to be possible with a 1st Class ticket!

Maybe. There's an old adage, "A human may err, but it takes a computer to really screw things up." I'm not yet convinced AI will change this - just make the computer sound more convincing!
Mark_Outhwaite@Mark_Outhwaite

@ben_frost @seatsixtyone There is an interesting question as to when AI - ChatGPT for rail travellers - becomes readily available and the ability to set the prompts so it can do this and also provide a range of options. I am planning Istanbul to London in June but want several stops on the way.

@jonathan_stott Hi Jonathan, this is an error with our journey planners. The 22:20 will run as scheduled and will be updated immediately. Apologies for the inconvenience. ^JOY

@Se_Railway Hello! I'm looking for the 22:20 train from St Pancras to Rainham tonight, but it isn't appearing in the timetable. I can see that the 23:30 and 23:50 are replaced by buses from Ebbsfleet, but no mention of the 22:20. Any ideas?

@Se_Railway Thanks, it's just surprising as your engineering works page mentions the 23:20 and 23:50 but not the 22:20. It runs on all other days, so it can't just be the new timetable. Can we use our ticket to get to Victoria on the Tube instead?

@jonathan_stott Hi Jonathan, The new winter timetable started today. Also the last direst train from St Pancras to Rainham today is 21:32. The 23:20 and 23:50 London St Pancras International to Faversham services will be replaced by buses because of engineering works. ^JOY

@dmchapman @Se_Railway I've never understood this. Go and come back the same day is affordable, but if you want to come back the next day it costs double. The government were going to make changes to get rid of this craziness, but that would make too much sense.

@Se_Railway hi, trying to book a return FKW to Canterbury going Wed lunch return Thur afternoon. Why no return tickets available? I can see singles and day returns only. Is that correct? Makes it far more expensive (don’t want advance singles - need a bit of flexibility)

@MrTimDunn @networkrail @LNER @NetworkRailKGX Occasionally, the peak time services from Medway to Cannon Street on Southeastern get to London Bridge faster than the "High Speed" services to St Pancras - a nice surprise, but it reduces book reading time!

Something good happened again tonight. Perhaps it was the driver (who seemed rightfully chuffed himself), the @networkrail signallers, or perhaps a combination of several things, but tonight @LNER 1606 got us in six minutes *early* to King’s Cross. Sure, earlies don’t happen as often as delays (for several reasons) but in the miasma of despair that is Twitter I think it worth calling out Good Things, ‘cos they *do* happen, and there are always real people behind them (BTW: contrary to the belief of some, no, I’m not paid to write nice things either). PS: a #travelbytrain from Friday northbound of a wind farm powering the grid powering – indirectly, I guess – our LNER train. What a smashing weekend we had away: our first proper little holiday I think, for many months.

This morning I spoke to BBC Radio Kent about the possible closures of ticket offices at #Gillingham and #Rainham train stations. This is a cost saving drive that at the expense of rail users and staff. @Se_Railway
