@basilthegreat A perfect demonstration of circular reasoning: "The English flag is racist" "Why?" "Because the people using it are racists" "Why do you think they're racists?" "Because they fly the English flag" "What's wrong with that?" "The English flag is racist".

@VERYKOOLLUKEY @mainledger It's a so called Union of "Independent" Countries. But in reality it's soft authoritarianism/illiberal managerialism. Orchestrated pluralism with illusory autonomy.

@afneil You won’t know, that’s for sure. Don’t understand your resentment to anything and everything Scottish. What happened to make you so bitter to the land of your birth??

Every combined sewage overflow is monitored and recorded in England. Only less than 10% in Scotland. So how do you know Scottish Water is any better?
archiemcall@kevintarkovsky

@xerxes5th @AndyGraysdouble @afneil Mate I’m all for having a go but if you think the river and sea quality in Scotland and England is the same then you are not being serious. So let’s start with your list of all the beaches to day in Scotland vs England that you are advised not up swim in ….

I'm confused about why people are freaking out about children being banned from adult social media from the point of view of 'protecting adult online privacy.' We already give social media platforms access to our names, phone numbers, emails, DOB. They know who we are already.

@francesweetman 100% of British people are in favour of being murdered, according to a poll which asked "would you rather be shot or stabbed?".

@SBaggsy @francesweetman On an unrelated matter, do you agree that all adults should have to give their passport details to Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg and thereby to the police upon demand if they want to use social media?

@francesweetman This may be nonsense (I don't know), but every parent I speak to (and as one I agree), this is massive issue. Kids need to be off social media.

The movement of many of you around the X cesspool show me exactly who is evil because you show yourselves only to defend those that are evil and hurt the Holy Orthodox Church with their rhetoric. Those that pretend to be leaders on X. [I’m not speaking about any Orthodox Bishops.] Orthodoxy is beautiful, but you make it a dark evil to new inquirers on X. They listen to the way you talk and act. You’re not Orthodox, let alone, Christian. You drive them away. The way you condemn Catholics and Protestants. The way you declare yourself in an exclusive club. The way you declare anyone not in your club is hell bound. This is the epitome of evil. Using an alias on X to justify your hate and reticule others is not the action of an Orthodox Christian. If you’re guilty of doing this, question why you’re Orthodox. Repent. Talk to your priest.

@mansfieldrv6 @afneil @JuliaHB1 Funny how we've had some poor tory PMs lately. Yet these right wing media people never saw or said a bad thing about their competence prior to them taking office .

Andrew Neil laying it out bare in this great short interview. Burnham isn’t prepared for power. I think if he was to become PM he’ll quickly realise that the problems aren’t Starmer’s… They’re the country’s. Reality bites. @afneil @JuliaHB1

Michael Caine "I voted for Brexit... I'd rather be a poor master than a rich servant... You get lost, and then you find your way, and it will be alright." This Brexiteer lived in LA, has never been a poor anything, and there are zero consequences for his actions on him.

IT'S CANCELLED, AND THEY KNOW IT! The much maligned former Doctor Who script writer Gareth Roberts comments on efforts by the "triumvirate love-in" of Russell T Davies, Steven Moffat — and some hack called Pete McTighe — who have clearly colluded to save the former's face. Just as they lied about Christmas, they're now spreading another identically scripted lie to fans. Namely, Doctor Who isn't cancelled and, therefore, RTD didn't destroy Doctor Who by turning it into his own private Idaho for indoctrinating ID politics into kids who, after three... ...just switched off their television sets and went off and did something far less boring instead! Gareth also dispenses 20 common sense tips to put Doctor Who back on track that any future producer — after a rest of at least a decade, Roberts insists — would do well to consider...
The Spectator@spectator

The BBC has binned its planned Doctor Who Christmas special and put the show 'out to tender'. This is a face-saving TV industry term for saying you've kicked an ailing show into the longest of grass, but don't want to enrage its most rabid fans. Good luck with that, chaps. Essentially it translates as 'Somebody please, please take this nightmare off our hands'. It’s like one of those Facebook ads you see for a dog that needs rehousing because it barks all night, gnaws on toddlers, and has no control of its bowels, but is a total sweetie, honestly. If by some bizarre quirk of circumstance I found myself the unwilling owner of the tender, I'd put Doctor Who on ice for at least a decade. Much has been written in the past few days about what happened to poor old Doctor Who, how the thing was revived in glory and then retoxified in shame. As a former writer on Doctor Who, I was actually in the room when some of the mistakes were made. I offer the following suggestions – in a reflective but constructive spirit – for anybody barmy enough to take the thing on. (And yes, I broke many of these 'rules' myself, but I know better now.) ✍️ Gareth Roberts Article | spectator.com/article/twenty…

The Gestapo marched hundreds of thousands of innocent people to their deaths. I've ended private schools' tax breaks to invest in state schools. No responsible leader makes vile comparisons like this. Kemi Badenoch is not fit to be Prime Minister.

Why have so many British people become so enamoured of state scrutiny that they think privacy is only of interest to wrongdoers? "If you've got nothing to hide you've got nothing to fear" they recite; but you're allowed to hide things. And no, I don't mean nasty things like porn.

@sciantificnew We've had the police turning up at people's doors because they said mammals can't change sex. You are being very simplistic and frankly naive in saying that if something gets you in bother with the law then it must mean you shouldn't have said it.

If banning social media for U16s means linking a profile to an ID to verify age then I think that's all the more reason to do it. If you are worried about legal repercussions of what you are saying on SM then that's a pretty good hint that you probably shouldn't be saying it.
