Today, American Members of Congress Richard Blumenthal @SenBlumenthal and Jim Himes @jahimes are in Kyiv. It is an important visit during these difficult days after a massive attack. We are grateful to the United States, to the President, Congress for their strong bipartisan support, and to all Americans. We discussed further support for Ukraine, particularly in strengthening air defenses. We have a significant need for antiballistic missiles due to the constant Russian attacks. I sent a letter to the White House and the U.S. Congress outlining Ukraineโs needs for such missiles. And today, I also personally handed this letter to the congressmen. We are counting on timely support. I briefed the congressmen on the frontline situation and on our successful long-range sanctions. Our partners clearly see that Russia is suffering enormous losses. It is important to prevent any weakening of sanctions against the Russian Federation โ we discussed this as well. We are also working with the American side on concluding a Drone Deal. Particular attention was given to the negotiation process. There must be no pause in diplomacy, and talks must be reinvigorated. The whole world needs peace.

This week, I prepared a special letter addressed to the President of the United States and to Congress. And yesterday, the letter was officially delivered to the institutions in Washington. It is quite rare for the leader of another state to address both the President and Congress of the United States simultaneously with a letter. But the situation now requires action, swift and effective action. It is important that America hear Ukraine. We understand that much of the worldโs attention is currently focused on the war in Iran. But the war here in Europe must also be brought to an end โ a very bloody war that is already in its fifth year at full scale. The sooner we are able to provide greater protection against ballistic threats, the sooner we will be able to make diplomacy work. As long as Russia continues to rely on missiles, its interest in diplomacy is not real. We must correct this. And we can do so only together with America. Ukraine is grateful to America for all its support. And Ukraine will be even more grateful for a dignified peace and guaranteed security. All of this is possible โ if there is sufficient determination.

27-year-old Ksenia Belousova has been sentenced to 3 years and 25 days in prison for โinsulting the feelings of believers.โ
Her crime was using a traditional Easter kulich (cake) as a bowl for a hookah in a video she posted online.
She was detained on April 13, forced to publicly apologize on camera, and delete the video.
Today, the court handed down a real prison term.

I have asked that the Russian Ambassador to Belgium be summoned today.
Russiaโs announcement calling on diplomatic personnel and foreign citizens to leave Kyiv ahead of planned strikes is unacceptable. Threatening embassies is not diplomacy, it is intimidation. And it is a flagrant violation of international law and the Vienna Convention.
Belgium is not going anywhere. We are staying in Kyiv. We are standing with Ukraine. And we will not be intimidated.
There is one aggressor in this war, and it is Russia. The solution to end this cycle of escalation is remarkably simple: Russia must stop its aggression and engage in genuine peace talks.
