After 9/11 I had European friends confused that we would spend time, money and effort digging up the bodies at Ground Zero. What's the point, they said. But it's what Americans (and, ahem, Israelis) do. We love life, we care about our dead, and we don't leave anyone behind.

He can't leave his house without security. Despite credible death threats and being physically attacked on multiple occasions by morally fake, love-not-hate lefties he carries on. Already wealthy, famous and successful he could be enjoying his retirement now. !!! @bbclaurak says "no one wants to curb free debate" while joining in with the BBC-wide censorious coverage of what @NJ_Timothy said. Any British politician who worries about Islamification will know with renewed evidence they get very unsympathetic coverage for ever raising a related issue. Their arguments will be conflated with racism and real, consequential differences between the teachings of different world religions will remain a taboo subject in network tv news.

Under the government's proposals, not one of the 900 wrongly convicted subpostmasters would have had a right to trial by jury.
The Prime Minister himself concluded in a report that the scrapping of jury trials led to miscarriages of justice in Northern Ireland in the 1990s.
The right to trial by jury must be protected.

Post mortem on Labour’s crushing defeat in recent by-election goes on in the Party but with no sign of the obvious conclusion being reached. The Greens won because they are promoting a programme that ironically won Keir Starmer the Labour leadership & that he instantly dropped.

This is absolutely not affordable or sustainable. The longer politicians on all sides ignore this elephant in the room, the longer they will face the reality of welfare spending growth cutting off any prospect of increasing spending on other area.

@paullewismoney Paul, it’s not the admin - it’s the 20% hit to profits and/or increase in prices. Absolutely rational for micro businesses to constrain their growth. Absolutely awful macro consequences.

There are no homes, retail outlets, office buildings. People do not generally walk here. And most in Denton knows where it is and that nobody is there. Weird

Oh dear! According to the memoirs of former Stalybridge MP Tom Pendry, the selection of current Government Chief Whip Jonathan Reynolds as subsequent Labour candidate for the Stalybridge seat (and MP from 2010) was fixed by a chap called Peter Mandelson.
