Sort of, but not Ethereum-style under the hood. Toccata does not turn Kaspa into a global EVM with shared contract state. It adds programmable UTXOs through covenants: each output can carry spending rules, and transactions only touch the UTXOs they explicitly reference. So the similarity is “programmable value”. Tokens, DEX patterns, lending-style flows, and proof-based scaling paths become possible natively. The difference is the architecture: covenant programmability on a PoW blockDAG, not Solidity contracts inside one global state machine. So yes, more app landscape. No, not Ethereum copy-paste with green paint.

Toccata is the next big Kaspa programmability hard fork. It adds native L1 covenants through Silverscript, plus zk-related infrastructure on top of those covenant foundations. The core package is KIP-17 for extended script opcodes and transaction introspection, KIP-20 for Covenant IDs, KIP-16 for zk verifier/opcode support, and KIP-21 for partitioned sequencing commitments. In plain English: Kaspa UTXOs become programmable enough to constrain future spends. Adoption angle: builders can create native Kaspa apps instead of depending on sidechains or indexer-heavy hacks. Think covenant-based tokens, DEX/AMM patterns, lending-style flows, and later proof-based scaling paths, while staying closer to Kaspa L1 security. Status: not live yet. The public target window is roughly June 5-20, after TN12/TN10 rehearsal steps.
