Three years ago, Rocket Lab said Neutron launches would be sold for $50M to $55M. SpaceX has increased Falcon 9 pricing by 10% since 2023. Probably reasonable to assume Neutron pricing has also increased slightly. Perhaps to $55M to $60M, still a discount to F9. (Note: most F9 customers don't come close to filling up the fairing capacity, so total launch price is often a better comparison than $/kg.) Peter Beck and Adam Spice were asked about Neutron pricing on Rocket Lab's Q1 earnings call last week. Here's what they said: "We've always been consistent about our pricing structure with Neutron, and that remains the same. I think I was burned pretty heavily with discounting Electrons and flushing them out of the manifest it took years. So we're just not going to go down that road again." - Peter Beck "We can also kind of look back historically and look at what happened with Electron pricing. And when we brought that vehicle to market, pricing was, call it, $5M to $6M. And we now see how backlog is priced with average backlog priced around $8.5M for commercial missions and some hypersonics being higher than that. So I suspect that we'll see that same kind of trend present itself as we bring Neutron to market where we tend to be very conservative upfront. We understand the value proposition that Neutron brings relative to what is arguably very scarce competition in the market, primarily Falcon 9. And we think that we'll compare very favorably there and hopefully experience an upward bias to ASP as we continue to kind of gain cadence and credibility with the platform." - Adam Spice
