IMO this is enhancing access to a handful of clients that are not onboarded and will likely not onboard onto the shopping ecosystem anytime soon.
This includes access to higher income professionals in SEA whose future workflows and daily functions are deeply entrenched in AI. If all your daily email, reply and scheduling functions are all automated using AI, it will be highly likely shopping will become another layer in this process flow.
However, the user experience has to catch up with promise, and that’s where this partnership comes in.

With LLMs already adept in user data and preferences, recommendations are likely to be extremely tailored and high conversion in nature.
With Shopee owning the finish line (ie, fulillment, 20M sellers onboarded), this only taps into a new high income consumer that is needs reliability, and is less price sensitive.
