@Volta1228 And Matt in Born Again doesn’t turn in Punisher despite knowing he plans to kill criminals, let’s Bullseye free despite knowing he could kill innocents, and lets Kingpin go free despite the fact that he can go on to kill innocent people.

@Nathannightowl @Critical_Scribe And when he was powerless and about ready to be killed in season 3 he was enraged. He was powerless then for a moment and even fought back okay. Here he just...refused to fight back once he lost his powers. It still doesn't feel earned.

To engage in crass dialogue for a bit, a simple change here would have pissed less people off. Just have it be defiant dialogue. “I’ll fucking suck your dick.” Changes to “Suck my fucking dick.” “You want me to eat shit? I’ll eat your fucking shit.” Changes to “Eat my ass, you fucking shit-eater.” The reliance on crudeness still kind of robs the scene of its weight in the end, but it’s more in line with how someone like Homelander would go out. Course, it wouldn’t give Kripke his power fantasy of killing the orange man after rendering him pathetic, but that’s on him for being a terrible writer.
Culture Crave 🍿@CultureCrave

Eric Kripke says Antony Starr came up with Homelander's line about eating shit in 'The Boys' finale "I reached out to him before the script came out, and I said ... 'He goes out in the most pathetic way possible', And he was like, 'Of course. He has to. This is the end. He has to get a comeuppance that befits the horror that he’s been inflicting for the last seven years' So he totally understood it" "And as a matter of fact, he added the line 'I’ll eat your shit on live TV'" (via @RollingStone)

@TheMadSouth @AlexJKelly Homelander thinks putting himself in humiliating situations will make Butcher less likely to kill him. That’s basically what he did to others when he had powers.

@AlexJKelly What's funny is that the liberal creator of the show tried to think of the most horrible thing he could do to humiliate Homelander... so he made him gay. That tells you what he really thinks.

@EhMan1872 @NobodyIsOurGuy Dawg the Killing Joke comic story was literally Joker trying to prove that anyone could become like him if they had one bad day. Heath Ledger Joker is doing the exact same thing in this movie.

@NobodyIsOurGuy Heath Ledgers joker is overrated as fuck. Nigga has an ideology? Jokers point is hes doing it for the shits and giggles not to paint some philosophical meaning to all the chaos he brings. Felt more like a insane political student that cries for attention to me.

@CottonNagger @mjarbo Homelander’s immaturity was set up from day one. His narcissism even tries to wiggle its way true by telling Butcher that he owes him and that Butcher can’t kill him.

@mjarbo The whole problem is that it's not realistic. Have you ever seen a narcissistic man getting fired and begging to keep his job? No. He'd flip out. That's just bad writing. No one identified with him.

Homelander's death broke the manosphere in ways I never thought possible. The Boys showed a bully without any power getting his just deserts, and they cannot handle it...which is odd because this was telegraphed from the beginning of the series. Let's talk about that.

@elonmusk @dvorstone @elonmusk Kripke had to transform Homelander from a total Chad to a diversity hire with an existential crisis just to avoid offending the lobby. The ending is pure woke fan service.

The humiliation of the villain is a sign of sadism from the culture that savors it. Homelander is truly a villain but he was used to pain and suffering and was filled with rage. He would not have begged and pleaded for life. The show's portrayal is utterly inconsistent with how people like him behave. It's a sadistic fantasy that betrays the sadistic convictions of the writers. They sought to humiliate the villain, but Homelander isn't real and they are. Ironically, in the end, it is the showrunners themselves who end up being the show's true villains.
Emir Han@RealEmirHan

In The Boys finale, Homelander had to look powerless according to Eric Kripke “Yeah, it was really important to us for Homelander to at least experience a little bit of time powerless.” “People have asked me, ‘Well, why don’t you send him out in the world powerless, wouldn’t that be the ultimate punishment?’ “I’m like, it would, until he gets his hands on some more Compound V, and then you’re back to where you started.” “So, he cannot walk out of that room alive, but we can spend time with him powerless to really reveal what everyone’s been saying all season, which is, ‘Take away those powers and you are nothing.’ “And he’s so cowardly and blubbering and pathetic, as are most strong men when you remove their power and they’re and they’re faced with their imminent death, they rarely handle it bravely.”

@wageslaveneet @mister_shroom_2 Because they want to live out their "My bully was actually a coward" fantasy. We have seen many times in society where people will go to bat for monsters just because they had a horrible childhood but when it comes to Homelander they have zero nuance.

@GibsHamari @wageslaveneet @mister_shroom_2 My point is the WRITERS accidentally made him sympathetic when they wrote in the whole "he was tortured" background. That makes it hard for him to beg to eat sh*t when they have to finally create his "cowardly" demise. They could have easily just left that out.

The Bad Manners Grandmaster
@FNAFtwtconfess Nonono, you don't get it, William Afton hated kids, this is why he had 3 of them for some reason. And he was this deranged since kindergarten where he was planning to murder children after they interrupted his nap time. x.com/thebmgm/status…
The Bad Manners Grandmaster@thebmgm

@Folinden6 Nonono, you don't get it, William Afton was evil incarnate. He was planning the rise and fall of Freddy's when he was born, he plotted the murder of his kids during kindergarten. No one ever spirals into insanity, they just wake up like this one day... x.com/thebmgm/status…

@_m1k333 @J_Onaka Cause he still had his powers at this point and had a means of escaping. Death wasn’t guaranteed like it was with him being powerless and cornered in a room with the man that hates him more than anything.

@1Remix12349504 @J_Onaka Homelander was faced with death in season 3 and he didn’t beg. He just got more pissed off… Homelander should’ve begged for his life, but the sucking dick and eating shit lines weren’t needed and just felt out of place ESPECIALLY considering who he was talking too

@EmbiidTweet @SheevTalks Butcher going off the edge felt so shoehorned in. It worked in the comics because there Butcher was so unhinged. In the show he’s more chill. He lets Sage live despite all the shit she did as a Supe, he was going to let Annie and Kimiko have V-1 so they could live.

@1Remix12349504 @SheevTalks Feel the same way about Butcher. Basically the final villain of the show & the worst thing he does is think about killing supes. Didn’t commit to actually making him do enough bad shit to make that last scene work

@EmbiidTweet @SheevTalks The problem is Homelander doesn’t even do shit that’s all that bad before becoming pathetic. The show set up him snapping and potentially killing a bunch of people for five seasons and he never does that. The show never has the balls to commit to part of what it set up.

@1Remix12349504 @SheevTalks They def set it up, it was just kind of a dumb thing to set up and the payoff was underwhelming. But at least they had some foresight on at least some portion of the show
