His name is Sanjiv Chaturvedi. IFS 2002 batch. Engineer from MNNIT Allahabad. In Haryana he exposed fake plantation schemes. Illegal tree felling. Misuse of government funds. He was transferred 12 times in 7 years. In 2012 he became Chief Vigilance Officer at AIIMS Delhi. In two years he investigated 200 corruption cases. Rs 3,750 crore irregularity in campus expansion. Fake medicines being sold inside hospital premises. Corrupt officials at every level. CBI cases were registered against senior bureaucrats. In August 2014 he was transferred out of AIIMS. The health minister who transferred him later became party president of the ruling party. In 2015 he won the Ramon Magsaysay Award. He donated the entire prize money to AIIMS for treatment of poor patients. AIIMS returned his cheque. He has been in non-field postings for 9 years since then. 16 judges have recused themselves from hearing his cases. No government in India wants him posted in their state. That is how you know he is doing his job right.

What are your odds of living a successful life? That depends entirely on how you define success. If you grew up around money, you might stop measuring success in terms of wealth. Instead, you may start longing for what you didn’t have - emotional freedom, creative expression, deeper meaning. We’re often bound by what our families gave us - whether it’s privilege, expectations, or unspoken limits.
Naturally, we seek to transcend those boundaries. That desire for freedom isn’t random; it’s an unconscious choice. An emotional calling. But those who built the world around you may resist your attempts to break free. They’ll protect the system that serves them, often to maintain a sense of superiority. In the process, you may even forget what success truly meant to you. Especially if you ignore the emotional needs your heart once tried to express. When you follow the path handed to you by society - believing that’s the success you want - you might unknowingly walk a backward path, all while thinking you're moving forward. It may look like progress from the outside, but inside, it feels hollow. And by the time you realize that, it might be too late. So, your odds of living a truly successful life?
They’re low - until you pause and ask your heart what success really means to you.
And once you begin to pursue that, those odds begin to rise - quietly, steadily, and powerfully.

The Special Foundation Course for 176 Officer Trainees of 15 All India/Central Civil Services was formally inaugurated today at NCA-F, in the august presence of Shri Sriram Taranikanti, Director, LBSNAA, as the Chief Guest. The ceremony marked not just the beginning of a 12-week long training program, but the weaving together of diverse experiences, aspirations, and commitments to public service. In his Inaugural Address, Shri Taranikanti emphasised that anonymity is the bedrock of Civil Service and that a Civil Servant has to be an eternal optimist. He urged OTs to channelize their youthful energy towards nation-building, reminding them that true leadership lies in shared vision and calls for sacrifice. Delivering the Ceremonial Address, Shri Manish Sinha, Member (Finance), DCC, emphasized the need to build resilient institutions and to ensure efficiency, accountability, and transparency in the service to the people. He urged OTs to forge life-long friendships which will stand the test of time. In her Keynote Address, Ms. Madhavi Das, DG, NCA-F, shared her vision of NCA-F as a vibrant hub of excellence. She urged the OTs to grab every opportunity towards nation-building. She reaffirmed NCA-F's commitment to nurturing future-ready civil servants who are infused with the values of seva bhaav, jan seva, empathy, accountability, and continuous learning - qualities that transform governance into a true instrument of citizen service. Addressing the OTs, Dr. Kamal Kapoor, Course Director, highlighted that the Foundation Course is, in itself, a contract of Discipline, Diligence and Dignified behaviour on part of OTs and Academic Rigor, Commitment, Dedication, Excellence and Fairness on part of the NCA-F. Sh. Shailesh Bansal, Course Coordinator, SFC, encouraged the OTs to immerse themselves in the learning experience of the months ahead, carrying with them the timeless call of the Gita: “कर्मण्येवाधिकारस्ते मा फलेषु कदाचन।” (Your right is to action alone, never to its fruits). On this solemn occasion, the OTs were administered the Oath of Allegiance by DG NCA-F - pledging unwavering loyalty to the Republic and the Constitution and a firm resolve to uphold its ideals, and faithful adherence to Laws in the service of the nation. #SpecialFoundationCourse #CivilServices #FoundationCourse2025 #DigitalIndia #CapacityBuilding @Officejmscindia @PemmasaniOnX @DoT_India @IndiaPostOffice @LBSNAA_Official @ControllerDot @USOF_India @CBC_MK @AJNIFM_ @svpnpahyd @HQ_IDS_India @NADT_Official @IRITMLKO @nacincbic @RAKNPA_DOP @IEGResearch @cpronair @iift_official @naaa_shimla @IIMC_India @IGNFA_GoI @neerajmittalias

Every UPSC topper has one common secret weapon: NCERTs 📚 They’re not “school books”… they’re your foundation for Prelims + Mains. The bare minimum NCERT list every serious aspirant must finish: History: Three old NCERTs are recommended: Ancient India by R.S. Sharma, History of Medieval India by Satish Chandra, and the slim version of Bipin Chandra's History of Modern India World History: Current NCERTs for Class 9th (India and the Contemporary World Part 1), Class 10th (India and the Contemporary World Part 2), and Class 11th (Themes in World History) provide context for global events during India's independence movement. The old world history book by Arjun Dev is also recommended . Economy: Foundational Concepts, Class 10th's Understanding Economic Development offers a good background on topics like the Consumer Protection Act and Supply and Demand. ◦ Indian Economy: Class 11th's Indian Economic Development provides a strong background on the Indian economy post-1947, covering planned economies, various five-year plans, and LPG reforms. ◦ Macroeconomics: Class 12th's Introductory Macroeconomics is highly recommended. Aspirants should focus on understanding concepts such as GDP, GNP, NNP at Factor Cost, balance of payments, and government budgeting, while ignoring complex formulas Polity: Three books are essential: Class 11th's Indian Constitution at work and Political Theory, and Class 12th's Politics in India since Independence. ◦ Politics in India since Independence covers post-independence history, including details on elections, problems, wars, and political changes Geography: Class 6th–12th (Physical, Human, India) These books are described as a "complete resource in and of itself," meaning that along with an atlas, they are largely sufficient for geography preparation Art & Culture: Detailed Coverage: Class 12th's Themes in Indian History Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3 are recommended, particularly for their focus on art and culture aspects, despite being history books. ◦ These are to be paired with Class 11th's An Introduction to Indian Art Science: Class 9th and 10th Science books are important for developing a basic understanding of concepts like oxidation, reduction, metals, and non-metals. It's advised to ignore formulas and focus on these fundamental principles, as they are often directly asked in prelims. ◦ Specific Biology Units: From the Class 12th Biology book, only specific units are recommended: Unit 9 (Biotechnology) and the ecology sections (chapters 11, 12, 13), rather than the entire book Indian Society: Class 12th's Social Change and Development in India and Indian Society are "absolutely wonderful books" and "very useful for your GS1 part of Indian Society". These are sufficient for mains preparation when combined with current affairs for latest data and findings 👉 If you haven’t completed this list, you’re not even at the starting line.
