I know grass needs to be cut, and I’m not expecting the whole neighborhood to stay quiet. But starting the mower right at dinner time feels a little inconsiderate. We were just sitting down to eat, windows open, trying to enjoy the evening… and then all we could hear was the mower. It’s not the end of the world, but it definitely changes the mood fast. Would this bother you too, or do you think dinner time is fair game for mowing?

That was wild. Guy came uninvited with an empty plate instead of say…12 pack of beer? Bottle of wine? Tray of mac and cheese? Bring something to contribute! Then invites himself to the ice cream truck and emphasizes that the ice cream is on someone else’s dime; then proceeds to fill a plate TO TAKE HOME. This is low class. I miss Chicago but this is why I moved. I couldn’t keep paying property taxes, HOA’s and state income tax there and have no safety or infrastructure. The last straw was 2020 walking out of my building on Michigan avenue and every window was broken. I walked up and down the street and thanked every police officer on every corner. I came back shattered and put my place on the market that day. I would rather set my money on fire than pay another penny to them.

The more we learn about the July 4th weekend in Chicago, the worse it gets. 6 killed, 20 wounded, 3 people stabbed. Police were also assaulted while trying to break up a mob action in Garfield Park, and now a driver smashes into a cop car. Under @ChicagosMayor, the streets aren’t safe for residents or police.
