They ARE worse drugs, but I’m telling you - people you’d never imagine wanting a GLP1 are going to be popping these pills. Discontinuation rates will be high. It’s a feature, not a bug. Patients will come off and on these things all the time, losing 5 lbs here and there. DTC channels will be the vector for this type of use. People comparing this to the injectables and being bearish on the launches because of attrition/discontinuations are making a mistake. The use of these drugs will, in my opinion, largely not be “medical” in the way that the injectables are. Expect very high on and off rates, but know that half your friends are going to be using these things.
