Dreamers and their family trusted that DACA would protect them, not be used against them, said @SenatorDurbin. But a recent Board of Immigration Appeals decision paved the way for DACA holders to be issued removal orders, increasing their likelihood of detention and deportation.

"The attacks on #Dreamers, the delays in #DACA renewals, they aren't just processing backlog. They're [ICE] purposely creating windows where people with protections are losing those protections," -Stephanie Villarreal whose husband, a scientist with DACA, sits in #ICE detention.

Jen Rickling spoke alongside @SenMarkKelly @DickDurbin and more today in support of reform for Dreamers. She is mother-in-law to Annie Ramos, the wife of an Army staff sergeant. Ramos was brought to the U.S. as a child and detained by ICE days after marrying Rickling's son.

Dreamer Lisandro Pantaleon Pacheco was set to receive his bachelor’s degree from the University of Utah today but was detained by ICE agents on the way to his job Wednesday. Pacheco’s mother brought him from Mexico to the United States when he was only one year old, and he has no criminal record. ABIC's Enrique Sanchez knows Pacheco through his brother, a classmate from Park City High School. “We [ABIC] work on common-sense immigration solutions at the federal level to actually have situations like this not happen, to get work permits for people who have been here long term and citizenship for dreamers like Lisandro,” Sanchez said. “Then to come home and this is happening right outside of the home I grew up in has really been a shock.” Read more: parkrecord.com/2026/04/30/ice…

I am glad to learn that Angela Della Valle’s husband Carlos is home, reunited with his family and back where he belongs. Just one week ago, Angela stood with me at the U.S. Capitol, calling for his release after more than 7 months in immigration detention. But this is not an isolated case. Today, more than 2.5 million mixed-status families are living with this same uncertainty under a broken immigration system. Families should not have to fight this hard just to stay together. They need a system that works, and that is exactly what the DIGNITY Act delivers.
