Previous HazRat and CV Lead, now Patrol PS. Lots of learning and reskilling to do, relishing the challenge. All views are my own. Do not report crime on here

@SkyHelpTeam Still nothing here either. Automated message said problem at local telephone exchange, yet my broadband and landline are working absolutely fine... Will we be getting a rebate on our bills?

@checkmatetrain Works a treat!! Normally have the answer in your head before you get to the options or an idea of it

READ THE 'LEAD-IN' FIRST I researched this approach to answering MCQs with 1000s of officers taking the NIE, SGT and INSP exam. It doesn't work 100% of the time but large numbers demonstrated & also said 'it works for me' (and that's what's important). Reading the LEAD-IN first followed by the STEM and then the OPTIONS can help candidates deal with MCQs efficiently (speeding up response time and also potentially assisting the candidate to identify the correct answer) - why not experiment with 10 MCQs? If YOU like it - use it. ...do add a comment - have you tried it? Does it work for you or not?

What was your favourite Microprose game? In 2001, Infogrames purchased the brand Microprose, which at that stage was owned by Hasbro Interactive. The Microprose brand name on games was gradually phased out to be replaced with the Infogrames logo.

Ok so why can’t Police just go into someone’s house and get your AirPods back even though they’re shown in that house on find my iPhone?! 👀 It comes down to legislation. 📚 So the offence is likely to be contrary to Section 1 of the Theft Act 1968. 👀 Theft is defined as; ‘Dishonestly Appropriating Property Belonging To Another With The Intention To Permanently Deprive.’ 🤓 Sounds complicated doesn’t it? 🤯 Essentially if you lend a friend a ladder, you think they aren’t going to give it back, but you haven’t asked them, is that theft? No. Because we don’t know their intention. If they say of course you can have it back come and get it, that’s not theft unsurprisingly. 🪜 But if they ignore you, or say no you can’t have it back, now we have theft, because they have taken control of your property dishonestly and aren’t going to give it back, so they’ve appropriated it. Or in the example given you’ve been out and about and someone’s taken your AirPods out of your bag dishonestly and appropriated them with the intention of keeping them, theft is complete. 🕵🏻‍♀️ Now let’s talk about powers of entry. Probable cause btw, is a US 🇺🇸 term. In the UK we use S17 PACE - it gives Cops a power to enter a property to save life or limb and to prevent damage to the property. It also gives us a power of entry to search for persons wanted for certain offences, such as cruelty to children, animals and people who are suspected of having been drink driving. If you look up S17 PACE on legislation.gov you can read it in full. It doesn’t however give us a power of entry to search for stolen property. We can knock on the door and ask permission to come in, but we do *not* have a power to enter. Frustrating huh? Unfortunately most properties are also sub divided in London, which causes further issues of where exactly stolen or lost property is ‘pinging’ on an app. So that’s why even though your AirPods are showing inside an address Police Officers are hampered by legislation. 🤷🏼‍♂️ I hope that explains the offence and why we can’t do what we’d like to do. #ThinBlueLine 🚨

@checkmatetrain Unfortunately it's asking about the offence, not defences. Exam world is not real world which I learnt very early on in my revision

A pal asked me to look after some plants in his greenhouse - water them etc. I know nothing about plants but watering them is easy - so I did it. It turns out they were cannabis plants! I've just been arrested for cultivating cannabis (s.6 MODA71)! Have I committed the offence?

@01DWO Unfortunately this is quite common these days across many forces. Traffic process is looked upon with distain by some and completely ignored by others. Some of the best results I have had are from simple S163 RTA stops. I know of at least 1 force who do not issue VDRS's...🤷

Today sat my new probationer down for a little developmental chat. To find out what his strengths and weaknesses are. I’d like to know how you get through street duties having not been shown as much as he’s missed. One statement that shocked me. “What’s a TOR?” 😬😱😱
