Charging rent as a sole income incentives hording property which decreases supply and increases the population that will never achieve generational wealth. Rent incentivizes crime and poor living standards. It does this by allowing people to pay cash with no background checks which happens and that also allows landlords to never do repairs and homes that are infested with mold or other issues and the people living there have no recourse other than to choose to be homeless instead of paying live in a suboptimal dwelling
