Britain’s biggest wine supplier, Vinarchy UK, has been forced into the red by an £8m bill for the government’s new packaging tax. The so-called Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) levy is another stupid tax thought up under the Tories & implemented with enthusiasm by Labour. Its main effect is to increase costs for consumers & weaken firms affected by it.

Every socialist scheme boils down to the same formula: take wealth from those who create it and redistribute to those who vote for you. They dress it up as "justice" but socialists fundamentally believe productive people owe them something simply for existing. Look at Venezuela's oil revenues or Cuba's sugar wealth—socialists always inherit functioning economies, then systematically destroy them through redistribution schemes. They call entrepreneurs "exploiters" while living off the taxes entrepreneurs pay. The productive class builds civilization. Socialists then vote to confiscate it. Pathetic.

There’s such an anti-wealth sentiment in the UK. I don’t understand it. By definition, wealthy people have created more value, taken more risks, employed more people and made a bigger contribution. We need more aspiration, not less.

Every measure you list involves spending wealth. You don’t list one measure that creates wealth. And if you don’t create wealth you will soon run out of it to spend, which is already happening (hence all your extra taxes and borrowing).

I think @waitrose better look at it’s shoplifting policies! If staff are fired for stopping it, then there is something wrong!
