@AaronJacob90 @the_real_flea @mitcheels1 Yep... as stated. Immigration has been both "voluminous & swift" in that area, and other areas, and has directly affected that particular school... as but one example. It is interesting to see a schools culture be changed so completely in just 35 years.

🧵 We all know the story of Australian rugby union's slow demise and the trajectory the NRL is on. Here are some analytics from Google Trends on search volume comparing the NRL and Super Rugby. It would be cool to be able to see the data before 2004.

@CamMagicMan @the_real_flea @mitcheels1 That's more to do with a severe demographic replacement in the glenfield area. Very sad for a school with a great rugby tradition. GPS rugby is still going strong

People dont like to admit it. But this is a true story. My old coach, an alumni of Hurlstone Agricultural recalls 7 Open a Rugby teams back when the school was a Waratah Shield powerhouse. The school today sports absolutely no dedicated Rugby program, & it coincides with over 90% of the student body being from non English speaking backgrounds. Immigration has been so voluminous & swift, it has completely changed the culture of that school as just one example... it's interesting. And Rugby Union has suffered more than any other sport - especially so that the ever more commercial NRL squeezes from the other direction

@Zeus_Cricket @footyindustryAU I’m road tripping down the NSW south coast at the moment and have passed Narooma, Bermagui, Merimbula, Eden and Bega and all I’m seeing is AFL grounds and games. Has Rugby League always played second fiddle to AFL down there?

@toobaffled Yeah they found out that high blood pressure was a pre-cursor to stroke and that 160/95 is not normal and unsustainable for life. That’s why the numbers changed. And the recommended BP is still 120/80.

They changed the numbers… again! 1970: Normal BP = 160/95 1985: 140/90 Now: 110/70 is the “new normal” Every time they lower the goalposts, millions more people suddenly “need” meds. Coincidence? Or just great business? Your blood pressure didn’t change .. the rules did.

@GenericJes @diglloyd @foundmyfitness Life expectancy has increased due to treatment of illnesses and disease from modern medicine. We still suffer the same illnesses, maybe even more, we just treat it better. A preventional approach will take life expectancy and quality of life metrics even further.

@diglloyd @foundmyfitness If all data that matters is corrupt, there is no way humans would live much longer today. Yet thanks to modern medicine, average life expectancy in the west has increased by about 20 years over the last century.

Nattokinase isn’t high on my list for cardiovascular prevention. I don’t see convincing evidence that it should be a primary strategy for cardiovascular disease or stroke risk reduction. If the goal is cardiovascular prevention, there are options with much stronger support. Omega-3 fatty acids (EPA + DHA) have far better evidence. And if we’re talking specifically about atherosclerosis, berberine has a much more compelling evidence base—it’s been shown to reduce plaque formation, while also improving LDL, HbA1c, and glucose regulation. Nattokinase may be interesting mechanistically, but right now the clinical evidence just isn’t strong enough for me to view it as a serious front-line strategy.

#BREAKING As the 34 ISIS brides who are all now apparently on a plane and in the air heading for Australia, here’s a compilation of Labor saying that they would “never repatriate” the 34 terrorists. The Albanese Government has lied again.
