Israel’s been raping Palestinian prisoners for years. In 1979, I interviewed 8 Palestinians who’d been raped in grotesque ways while in prison. When an Israeli official exposed rape, she was fired.

🔸The new 300-page report on alleged October 7 sexual violence, promoted by CNN and the BBC as a landmark document, analyzed more than 10,000 photographs and video segments totaling over 1,800 hours, “never says that any of those materials depict an actual rape or gang rape in progress,” according to The Electronic Intifada.
The finding is consistent with the UN’s own March 2024 review, which found “no tangible indications of rape” in thousands of photos and videos provided by the Israeli government, EI notes.
🔸 EI also flags that among the listed “valued partners” of the Civil Commission — the Israeli-founded body that produced the report — are Microsoft and the government of Canada.

@Andercot I think the issue with VR (less so AR) is that people increasingly want shallow, asynchronous interactions: texts vs calls, clips vs movies, tweets vs novels and VR is the opposite of that: singular, immersive, isolating. AR may resolve this, but it’s not good enough yet

A few weeks ago we published the first hand account of a German journalist raped in Israeli custody. She co-wrote the piece with an American journalist, who was also abused repeatedly. So Israeli prison guards will do that to Germans and Americans, but not to Palestinians?

In Chile, the use of dogs to rape people is sadly well known because of the Pinochet government’s tenure. An Oscar-nominated film was made about the woman who engaged in this torture tactic. She was called “Woman of the Dogs.”

What you said makes no sense whatsoever. For a conservative, what matters is tradition without ruptures, though still allowing for progress. Nolan’s film is an aesthetic, historical, and cultural rupture. It betrays the original story, the country of origin, and the underlying culture.
