Hearing from longtime friends @nytimes there are already discussions, including up the masthead, about retracting @NickKristof column. Issues with source credibility and lack of evidence. No indications the Kristof sourcing mistakes were deliberate. Still problematic:

What Democrats think fascism means: Republicans
What fascism actually means: a far-left, authoritarian ideology focused on creating a highly centralized, dictatorial state that subordinates to the state all aspects of society—economy, culture, media, education, and private life

Bill Madden@maddenifico
In my lifetime, I've never seen a more selfish, greed-driven, and cynical congress. There is no doubt in my mind that if given the choice between holding on to power at the expense of American democracy, Republicans will choose fascism. Republicans are hellbent on creating a permanent underclass.

@IsraelMFA @EladStr @nytimes Israel needs to take legal action against the NYTimes, sue for libel. Take them to court. Don’t let them get away with this.

Today, the @nytimes chose to publish one of the worst blood libels ever to appear in the modern press.
In an unfathomable inversion of reality, and through an endless stream of baseless lies, propagandist Nicholas Kristof turns the victim into the accused.
Israel - whose citizens were the victims of the most horrific sexual crimes committed by Hamas on October 7, and whose hostages were later subjected to further sexual abuse - is portrayed as the guilty party.
This publication is no coincidence. It is part of a false and well-orchestrated anti-Israel campaign aimed at placing Israel on the UN Secretary-General’s blacklist.
Israel will fight these lies with the truth - and the truth will prevail.

@d3ucemaximus @dlippman I’d say Israel gave you money but you’re too stupid even for them.

say it with me: Data centers can actually lower consumer bills bc utilities have HUGE fixed costs (ie transmission) that don’t change with usage
adding a massive new demand from data centers spreads those fixed costs across far more total kw/h sold, which reduces the price per unit for everyone
Ben Schifman@BenSchifman
Narrative violation: with the right policy, new data centers can *lower* electricity prices by spreading the fixed costs of the grid out among more paying customers.

How a final round interview wth Tony Xu (@t_xu) at DoorDash goes:
"I'm going to give you 20 minutes and you can ask me any question that you want. But after the 20 minutes expires, I'm going to give you $20 that you can use to go and acquire 100 customers for us, and you have eight hours to do so.
But here's also a plane ticket, in case you want to quit the interview now and just move on and find somewhere else to work.
So much of what we were trying to test for early on is someone who's going to do something to go and collect information, as opposed to someone who's going to collect data, scrape information from the internet and do some magical analysis on it.
What if none of that information existed? You have to go and do things in order to actually collect information."
