Daylight is one of Stallone's least talked about movies these days but it's got some genuine thrills that shouldn't be overlooked. Bring back practical effects and miniatures already. Currently watching Daylight (1996) | Rob Cohen

***PRE-ORDER*** Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair Standard Edition 4K UHD Pre-order: amzn.to/43wnvXA Street Date: 7/14 Quentin Tarantino's KILL BILL: THE WHOLE BLOODY AFFAIR unites Volume 1 and Volume 2 into a single, unrated epic—presented exactly as he intended, complete with a new anime sequence. Uma Thurman stars as The Bride, left for dead after her former boss and lover Bill ambushes her wedding rehearsal, shooting her in the head and stealing her unborn child. To exact her vengeance, she must first hunt down the four remaining members of the Deadly Viper Assassination Squad before confronting Bill himself. With its operatic scope, relentless action, and iconic style, THE WHOLE BLOODY AFFAIR stands as one of cinema's definitive revenge sagas—rarely shown in its complete form, and now presented with a classic intermission. #KillBill #KillBillTheWholeBloodyAffair #QuentinTarantino #Movie #Movies #Horror #physicalmedia #Bluray #HorrorCommunity #FilmCommunity #4KBluray #4KUltraHD #physicalmedia #FilmstaGram #physicalmediaforever #bluraycollector #bluraycollection #Horror #HorrorMovie #HorrorMovies #Film #Cinema #CinemaLovers #FilmTwitter #Cinephile #MovieBuff #NowWatching

So I have a (mostly) useless degree in film theory and my personal concentration was National cinema. Meaning the study of how a racial/ethnic group represents themselves, their history, present and future through the artistic medium of film. You will find that every single race of people on earth represent reality differently through film. The essence of that difference is found in the people themselves and what makes them, them. The racial spirit of a people is illustrated through their use of film making and visual storytelling in such a manner that a Bollywood film and a Korean film are so different in the manner of their storytelling, character development, camera techniques etc they might as well be from different planets. My favourite example of this is how Irish cinema is known for its dark, often crude, tragic comedy which mirrors the spirit of the Irish and their history perfectly. French cinema also intertwines deep philosophical ideas with ordinary everyday life and often uses rebellious and bold storytelling/camera techniques. Very in alignment with the French spirit. These distinct artistic differences give visual representation to the distinct differences between the racial spirit of people. What’s even more important though is that the artistic medium of film is in effect a form of collective dreaming. One steps into the theatre, sits back in a comfy seat, the lights dim, the screen illuminates and we experience the film itself in a similar fashion as we would a dream. The cinema provided the enthralling and thrilling experience of a new reality where anything could be possible. Where we could be reminded of who we are and we could imagine who we might be but for the first time as a shared experience. And what are dreams if not the deep internal world which inspires the creation and building of the external material world. Most people think of movies as just entertainment but in reality it is so much more than that. It is programming, guided dreaming and identity creating on the societal scale. What a people dream and feel about themselves internally they become in a sense. This is why these race swapped roles in historical dramas are not merely superficial and are in effect evil. It takes a historical figure, their contribution to the spirit of their race and thus a national identity and transgresses upon it by corrupting the image as belonging to anyone, everyone and therefore no one. It is stolen valour. It is the highest form of cultural erasure in art, it is history rewriting in pursuit of identity destruction. Not surprisingly it is something we exclusively see in roles which rightfully belong to whites. It is the explicit propaganda arm of white replacement. It aims to make us forget who we are, induce a form of collective amnesia about our history and ultimately erase from all future memory the truth of our ancestors heroics and bravery.

Christopher Nolan says Lupita Nyong'o was his first choice to play Helen of Troy in The Odyssey (2026) because the role needed “strength and poise” as much as beauty. “And Lupita makes it look effortless.” “I was absolutely desperate for her to do the part.”

Perhaps had the film utilized AI in its production it would have been $20M instead of $80M and Gray would have been allowed control over his vision, though one has to wonder what the A-T-L was on Ad Astra. I hope we someday get to see Gray’s director’s cut.
Reel Updates@worldofreel

JAMES GRAY admits that AD ASTRA was “taken away” from him by 20th Century during post-production. “That film was taken away from me […] That’s not my cut of the movie. It would have been a very different movie.” tinyurl.com/48runn3d

"Hurt" is not an original by Johnny Cash. The song was written by Trent Reznor (Nine Inch Nails) in 1994 for the album The Downward Spiral. Rick Rubin had to insist several times on Cash recording his version, at first Johnny found the idea completely insane because the original version is industrial and noisy. At 71, already very ill, almost blind and with trembling hands, Cash completely transformed the band. The iconic video, directed by Mark Romanek, was filmed at the House of Cash (his own museum). June Carter Cash appears looking at him fondly, the video was shot in February 2003, a few months before she died (May) and Johnny himself (September). Trent Reznor was so moved that he declared, "This song is not mine anymore." It is considered one of the best covers of all time.

Every year, I share this video of French caretakers who take sand from Omaha Beach in Normandy, and scrub them into the letters to give them the gold coloring. They do this for all 9,386 US soldiers who died. France also gave us this land as American soil. #MemorialDayWeekend

@mexillentJunior Well that and he was put on a hero pedestal. Shit I was born in 78 raised in So Cal I was distraught and depressed as a kid when he announced his retirement. I rescued a stray cat living under a car that week it happened and named him Magic.

Spencer Pratt is an elite. Fool blew his $10 million fortune on wine, crystals and partying. He’s a proven liar. Said he was living in a trailer when in fact, he staying in a $1500-a-night hotel in one of the richest parts of LA flanked by personal armed security. While it’s terrible that he lost his house in the fire, he didn’t have homeowners insurance and admitted he was house poor. Thinking it’s a terrible idea to put a political novice who cannot manage his own personal finances in charge of a complex city with a $15 billion budget isn’t “sneering elitism” — it is called common sense.
Phineas Fahrquar@irishspy

This kind of sneering elitism is exactly how you get Trump. Or Pratt.

The Mandalorian and Grogu isn’t bombing... it’s suffering from Star Wars expectations. The film opened in the same box office range as hits like Dune: Part Two and Project Hail Mary, but comparisons to Solo: A Star Wars Story are already dominating the conversation because of what that movie represented for the franchise. The difference is that Solo reportedly cost around $275 million after a troubled production, while The Mandalorian and Grogu came in at a far more manageable $165 million budget. For Star Wars, success has become a much harder target to hit than almost any other franchise in Hollywood. 🎬 Read more: collider.com/star-wars-the-…

NEW: Spencer Pratt fires back at reporter after he was asked about his plan for the homeless, says they will all end up in Seattle. Reporter: "What are your plans for the over 40,000 homeless in Los Angeles?" Pratt: "Well, they're not homeless, they're drug addicts... These people have been bused in by scam rehabs, scam NGOs, scam homeless nonprofits." "These people, when I unplug them ... they're all going to Seattle, where the mayor will welcome them."
