Aequs Group signed an MoU with the Government of Tamil Nadu to establish a large-scale Aerospace & Defence manufacturing cluster at SIPCOT Shoolagiri in Krishnagiri district, n the presence of Hon’ble Chief Minister (@CMOTamilnadu) Thiru. MK Stalin (@mkstalin) and Hon’ble Minister for Industries (@TNIndMin) Dr. T.R.B. Rajaa (@TRBRajaa), marking a defining step in the State’s ascent as a strategic hub for high-technology manufacturing. The proposed cluster will focus on aero-engine components, landing gear systems, ultra-precision machining, and advanced aerospace systems and sub-assemblies. Aequs, along with its partners, will invest up to INR 4,000 crore,including INR 1,900 crore from Aequs Limited (@AequsLimited) as the anchor investor to establish integrated manufacturing facilities. Great news for Indian aerospace supply chain too! The Trade pact is a positive development for the aerospace manufacturing industry in India, potentially leading to improved cash flows and enhanced cost competitiveness for the supply chain. It will strengthen the operating environment for Indian suppliers and support deeper integration with U.S. aerospace supply chains. At a time when the Indian industry was mentally preparing for at least 18% tariffs, even though lower from the previous 50%, this zero rating on certain parts is more than welcome. India’s aircraft parts and aerospace components sector, across civil and defense, has been growing sharply, with Indian suppliers now servicing major global OEMs, (including U.S. and non-U.S.) which source over USD 2 billion annually worth of aerospace components and services from India. Visited India’s first Aerospace SEZ in #Belagavi, #Karnataka. It was encouraging to see high-tech components being manufactured for the world’s leading aircraft companies. This visit brought back memories of 2019, when, as Aviation Minister, I had prepared the roadmap for India to manufacture aircraft starting with components. That blueprint was released at the first-ever Global Aviation Summit organised by the Ministry in Mumbai. It is extremely satisfying to see the realisation of that vision today, led by some truly extraordinary entrepreneurs. This facility has not only created large-scale employment but has also built strong confidence that India can develop a world-class aerospace value chain under the Make in India mission.
