I am not being “spiteful” towards anyone. I am of the opinion that we were disproportionately punished. I am also of the opinion that Middlesbrough have absolutely no interest whatsoever in any sort of sporting fairness as their priority has always been to ensure solely they benefit from our punishment rather than Hull City. These are perfectly legitimate opinions, held by many others including several high-profile professional footballers, owners etc.

Perfect example of the problem. Some of our fans just want to be liked and patted on the head. The immediate statement should have made the point that the prospect of a sporting sanction is outrageous, every effort and achievement of our players on the pitch throughout the season will be fiercely protected, we understand that there is a 72 hour limit beyond which opponents can be scouted and we will investigate if this time limit was breached. Southampton football club will take the maximum 14 days to respond further, after which the playoffs will have been concluded entirely on the pitch. If we’d run with that you’d all be going to Wembley. #SaintsFC

Best of luck to #boro and #hcafc in the playoffs tomorrow. Don't think I can bear to watch for obvious reasons - but I bear no ill will to any supporters of either club (all my anger is at those who run mine...) but I wish for the kind of match that a final deserves.

@posta_octavian And exactly what point are you trying to make? I'm saying Americans get upset because marriage is a religious institution. Youre telling me the French had a process that explicitly allowed unions without the religious component attached So--civil unions Explain what im missing

Opposing gay marriage was/is one of the biggest conservative Ls ever. Legalising it has: - raised the prestige of monogamous long-term marriages among gay men - made being gay less of a clandestine secret culture - integrated gay men as productive members of society with many positive effects So everything conservatives *should* want came from its legalisation, despite it having been something they opposed.
Hunter📈🌈📊@StatisticUrban

There are early signs that monogamy is on the upswing once again, even amongst groups that are currently less monogamous than average.

Just to keep it on terrain where Homelander fans will be comfortable: when the Germans put out the first (false) report that Hitler had died in Berlin “at the head of his troops,” Churchill told his Cabinet that he had never expected him to die any other way. And when the news

@dcfc1968 @Bigalanh5 Wrexham probably do feel put out, and if Southampton have cheated more than they have admitted to (a near certainty in my opinion) then they probably have a very good case to sue. But your first comment said you thought Southampton being punished for cheating was unfair?

@Aguy1357 @Bigalanh5 Then unfortunately teams would have to wait, it's not difficult. I am sure Wrexham feel abit put out that they did not get the chance of playing in the playoffs... but Middlesbrough now get a second shot at the Prem. Only my opinion 😀

I still haven’t had an answer to the question of why spying is worse than, for instance, intentionally fouling high up the pitch to prevent counterattacks as a premeditated tactic. I’ve heard variants of: 1) Rarara I hate Southampton hahaha you’re out. (Fine, but not an argument) 2) Shouldn’t have cheated then! (Doesn’t address proportionality) 3) Fouls, diving etc. are dealt with in-game (obviously not enough to discourage it which was the main argument for the prosecution in the Saints FC case). 4) How can you compare it to a dive or a foul? (I’m talking about a premeditated strategy involving intentional rule-breaking). 5) Spying gives you a huge advantage, bigger than coordinated, intentional fouling or injuring opponents. (The likes of Shearer, Murphy, O’Hara and Cundy who have played the game at the highest level have come out and said it would have made a minimal difference). I’ve accepted that Saints fucked around and found out, and all associated within the club need to go, but until I get an answer which lies outside one of those 5 listed above, I’ll be of the opinion we’ve been treated very harshly with a completely disproportionate punishment. This *is* the footballing equivalent of the death penalty for shoplifting - and if you’re a Saints fan reading this, bottle that sense of injustice inside, make an absolute racket at Saint Mary’s next season - and you watch, teams will crumble against us as they’ve always done, and just like #Boro and even #Arsenal did on the pitch. #SaintsFC #Spygate

@dcfc1968 @Bigalanh5 Then all 5 teams would be waiting until today to find out who would be allowed to compete in the playoffs. This is how long the process of kicking them out takes

@Aguy1357 @Bigalanh5 It's the timing for me. It happened ahead of the first leg of the Championship playoff semifinal, deal with it then & kick them out no issue. Wrexham would been in the playoffs job done. Yes they would have lost the big prize but it would have been nipped at source.

@Hull_and_Back Bookies had you to win at 4/1 so a 1/4 chance of us to win a fixture worth 220 million is the equivalent (off the bookies odds) of over a £150 million sanction?

Leeds 200k fine #Saintsfc 200m+ fine and -4 points. This is obviously disproportionate. However while it’s a ridiculous decision & should have the penalty reversed by appeal . I don’t see this happening.

@Aguy1357 @BerenCross If anyone was genuinely this concerned, then they would have taken reasonable precautions to maintain their privacy. It used to be called common sense. Holding a training session next to a publicly accessible pathway with no screening doesn’t suggest that it was, does it?

@dcfc1968 @Bigalanh5 What punishment would you say is appropriate? Seeing as a points deduction would be impossible if they won Saturday and a fine would basically just make every club do the same thing for every future playoff match

@Bigalanh5 Doesn't fit the crime! The final they say is worth best part of 200 million. Would they fine any club half that amount! Football has gone mad, maybe should concentrate with the cheating on the field from all the clubs week in week out.

@RicardoDaLepp @BerenCross Mate, Im not trying to he rude, but if you're going to be that willfully silly then you should get a blue tick and try and monetise it. Secretely observing in order to gain information without permission of target is unquestionably spying. And you would be a liar to say otherwise

@Aguy1357 @BerenCross Standing on a path (public?) by an open training pitch is hardly spying! Breaking in / trespassing would be. If it’s that big a deal, why isn’t there a hedge / screen / fence in place? Why isn’t it an issue in other countries if it’s so clearly going to gain an advantage?

If Southampton were not kicked out of the play-offs, you are giving them an opportunity to move out of EFL jurisdiction and evade ALL meaningful punishments. Then the cheating actually gets rewarded. Let's say they even come straight back down again after one season. A fine will be meaningless after receiving a year's worth of Premier League money, and a 4-point deduction wouldn't have changed a thing this season, so probably wouldn't any other time too. So where would the deterrent be? Spying on opponents' training sessions would carry small risk for enormous possible reward, so why wouldn't it become commonplace?
Adam Azor@AdamAzor

The #saintsfc punishment doesn’t fit the crime. Hopefully the appeal will be focused on this @MarkJLittlewood said it perfectly. “Its like being sentenced to death if you shoplifted”. It should have been a fine, ban for those involved & suspended points deduction at most. Madness

@BerenCross The breach deserves a sanction, but this is completely disproportionate. Can it really be said that any “spying” made that much of a difference? It’s too much, and just damages the integrity of the competition, far beyond the “sleight” of the original rule breach.
