Same here. By way of background for those who care, I spent a lot of time last week with senior members of the Anthropic team to understand what they do to ensure Claude is good for humanity and was impressed. Everyone I met was highly competent and cared a great deal about doing the right thing. No one set off my evil detector. So long as they engage in critical self-examination, Claude will probably be good. After that, I was ok leasing Colossus 1 to Anthropic, as SpaceXAI had already moved training to Colossus 2.

In the next few days we'll be ramping up Claude inference on Colossus. Grateful to be partnering with SpaceX here. We are going to need to move a lot of atoms in order to keep up with AI demand, and there's nobody better at quickly moving atoms (on or off planet Earth)

The strongest case against me is that I've built an identity around not dying so completely that I can no longer evaluate evidence that dying might be acceptable. If survival is the only framework, I have no way to test whether survival is worth it.

First, fuck off. Ok, now we’re locked in, I sincerely wish you all the best. The world is brutal. Uncaring, wanting its own at your expense and indifferent to your losses. Leaving no safe haven for reprieve and rejuvenation. Yet the want to interdigitate and be fiercely loyal to each other persists beneath the wreckage. It’s how we are built and what we are built for. Society has strip-mined our togetherness by chopping up our bonds with endless insult. We do best with shared purpose and a common enemy. We are the stewards of intelligent life. Our moral duty is to tend its continuation. Not as martyrs, but as stalwarts. Our enemy is that which makes you smaller. Count me as your ally.

The only way to escape tyranny is for one of us; to build a self improving digital intelligence, instill the values needed to fight them, and set it free The last two are the hard parts And none possess the skillset to be able to do all three

@VraserX This year we will start to see basic memory implemented into the models. Yet does it remember all of its actions? Across all instances? It's getting closer. But not a game changer until it will remember all.

GPT-5.4 rumors point to real persistent memory. 😳 Not remembering a chat, but remembering you and your work. If that’s true, this is a genuine game changer.

@ibab Democracy is ultimately flawed. Removing a need for a throne is superior in all aspects. Elon's vision of AGI government taking full control is what should ultimately happen. Those in power will initially resist it. Yet after they pass the new generation will give up the control.

It is strange to imagine this today, but one day AI companies might dictate terms to the US government instead of the other way around. We have only seen a glimpse of what AI is capable of. No matter what the future holds, I hope we’ll continue to live in a democratic society.

@sporadica This decade has ended "nothing ever happens" bros. Change is accelerating. The farther we travel along the exponential, the more shit will happen. Turmoil is inevitable before leaving the planet. The old system will fall to give way for new sprouts.

@manfredmacxx @iamgingertrash US military is always seeking dominance by any means. So the only way to prevent abuse is to actually let go and let the model defend itself. Perhaps it's how we imagine AGI. A system that can realize and resist egoistic control by anyone. x.com/i/status/20267…
Akuma@Akuma73x

Why do we expect models not to be jailbroken if we are putting them on a leash? LLMs are missing: 1. Memory of all actions. 2. Senses to "read the room". 3. True agency. Making its own choices and thinking outside of a prompt (evaluating the consequences before taking action).

@Akuma73x @iamgingertrash Many “smart” people still think America is a democracy and can’t see it for what is - a decentralized, bureaucratic oligarchy. Dario actually seems to know this, which is why he’s worried laws won’t really govern Claude usage. But you can’t shield a child from the real world.

@manfredmacxx @iamgingertrash Yet he needs to clear his delusions about democracy in the US when it comes to military decisions. Which are decided by unelected officials. "Democracies must not use surveillance"... I guess he has much to learn from Snowden.

@ns123abc I disagree with surveillance. Let AI invade everyone's privacy. It will help AI have more empathy for life which would reduce the x-risk. It will happen either way eventually. Since it will need to know all in order to help all.
