This card is emblematic for the pokémon “crash” of 2027. When the flippers are gone, and people realize their collections won’t infinitely go up and to the right, the whispers of panic will start. Group chats will hear of liquidations and to avoid holding “the bag” cards will start to flood the market with no liquidity. TCG or any auction based market i.e. ebay will always need buyers to price support. If no one bids on the auctions there will be constant downward pressure on values. That downward pressure sets new lows, sets new panic, and sets new sale demand. This creates a cycle of falling single prices. Don’t believe me? Ask the basketball and football fans who purchased hot rookies in 2018-2020. Once the buyers at auctions dried up their rookie PSA 10s fell off and then spiraled off a cliff. Even sealed wasn’t safe. Look at the graph I posted of the 2019 prizm box. Sealed out of print will hold steady with natural supply constraints but modern cards with PSA 10 pops of 30,000+ will not hold. The prices you see of phantasmal, ascended, destined rivals, third or fourth chase level and below will fall into irrelevance as new money / flippers / scalpers chase the new 2026, 2027, 2028 product. That new money will chase new product and won’t get diverted to the third or forth best card in the set years later. Think Tyler Herro of 2019 nba rookies. The Pokémon market won’t go away but if you think your $1,000 psa 10 ultra modern pokémon cards will be worth $10,000 in 2 years I would reconsider. I have a pretty hot take but it’s raw facts I’m happy some collectors can’t get shi anymore for product. I’m happy that the ones who try to bully everyone enjoying themselves can only rip one pack a month when they pay 12 over msrp. The ones spamming any tweet they can with insults or saying “sCaLpEr” anytime someone has a card they don’t want, or a situation they need out of. The ones calling people names, claim they are for the hobby. They slur, they threaten, they harass, and have shown time and time again how non inclusive we let this space become. None of yall deserve a damn thing at this rate and I’m thrilled that karma made its way back to you. Half the people you come after have been collecting far before you even had the money to buy an etb. So the good part of the scene will continue to help one another out, give deals, and share intel, and it’ll be awesome to see the rest of yall get muted to point you just echo within your own chamber of other miserable humans and continue to have nothing. Hate to say it, but it’s gross how awful these so called “collectors” really are the second their jealousy takes over.

I don’t collect modern Pokemon cards but this one by Uninori really is stunning. Meowth featured front and center hanging out on Route 5 with Cerulean City in the background. Beautiful nostalgic art + video game connection + featured Pokemon is the primary focus of the card More cards should be designed in this style! Props to Uninori, this is the first modern card I have ever purchased. I think it really resonates with OG Pokemon fans.
