@AlecFreese

I don't code. I just argue with agents all day

UI doesn't die, it relocates. I've been running PAI daily for months. It took two weeks of intensive work with TELOS and customization to give the system enough context to truly know my needs. The effort required to close the personalization gap is the part nobody talks about. For preference-heavy decisions, even low-stakes ones like choosing a shirt, we have so many unspoken quirks as individuals. Some preferences would only surface through dialogue. I don't believe an agent will know there's a specific tactile feel I want in a shirt. No pre-loaded profile covers that. The conversation IS the product. With that in mind, I think the model is heavily voice-driven: kicking off agents, then a proper dialogue interviewing you only when necessary, ending with just-in-time UI at the point of decision. The shift is less screen time, not no screen. And this might be what gives optical/spatial UI its iPhone moment. The screen doesn't die. It stops being a storefront.

@nikhyl really enjoyed your convo with @lennysan on this recently. Validating to hear this is what the market is demanding for PMs. On your concept of self-obsolescence, are you seeing or hearing anyone looking for this explicitly in the hiring process?

"There's a class of person who fell out of love with our industry — who might fall back in love with it." The mechanics that wore seasoned PMs out — status reports, project reviews, information shuffling — are exactly what AI eats first.

@DanielMiessler are you still using Claude as your daily driver for PAI, or have you bounced between model providers at all? I know you were building to be model/lab agnostic

@minafahmi @sandbar Cool, figured as much. wasn’t sure if the inner workings required it. was curious if the prominence could deter non-ring-wearers vs. a recessed notch. Definitely understand from a usability perspective. either way, I dig it

@clairevo no one is forcing you to live in SF. Those numbers can afford almost any type of housing and lifestyle you could want in 99% of the US

This makes me sick and want to move my kids out of SF. Not because it’s too expensive. But because tech striver culture is so warped, I worry it’s unhealthy for them to be around. By any objective measure this is not “broke,” not even in SF (ELEVEN MILLION PRE TAX!!!! 3M house! Chunky nest egg! An email job that lets you pay for private school AND a f/t nanny!) This is not a “996 and camping” lifestyle. This is a “we’re taking the kids to Japan for 2 weeks with the au pair” lifestyle. It’s not the expense that keeps people trapped, it’s the mindset. There will always be someone with more. The only way you can be truly poor is being unable to see your blessings for what they are and let someone else decide what is and isn’t “enough.”

They will still be SF brokie - 50% in taxes (37% federal / 13% state) $3-4m cash on a home in SF Likely needs renovation $250k- $1m Leaves you with $1-2m Many with kids or on the way Nanny -$100k/yr Day care / School - $45k/year/1 kid Camps/Extra curricular - $30-100k Tesla - $50k They will still be at the office 996 to not really enjoy any of this and and will only have money to hike and camp.

@TimurNegru a typical migraine can range from 4-72 hrs, but can go beyond. If it doesn’t dissipate with over the counter meds, you can go to an ER and you’ll get “migraine cocktail”

In almost all circumstances, people don't just want a blank text box staring them down like they owe it money. It's the equivalent of going to a restaurant and the waiter comes up and just says "uh so what do you wanna eat"
TBPN@tbpn

"I do not think a chatbot is the right interface for travel or e-commerce." - @bchesky "I think the future is not apps. The future is agents, but I don't think they're going to be text-forward. I think they're going to be really rich user interfaces." "Imagine using iMessage to do everything, when in fact every other app has a unique interface." "With e-commerce, you want a very rich user interface. It would be agentic. You can have a conversation with it, but the point is that it has to be more visual."
