Four deaths due to open drains and potholes have been reported in the NCR over the past 10 days. In any serious country, the MLA, MP, and municipal authorities would be on the ground, addressing the issue on a war footing. The urgency and accountability are clearly missing. Even a week after the tragedies, many of the hazardous roads in Delhi, Faridabad, Noida, Gurgaon and Ghaziabad remain untouched.

The bigger problem with rotten civic sense in India is not that people drive in the wrong direction, throw trash on roads, or spit in public, but the fact that they feel entitled to do these things.
