There is this notion being spread by certain twitter accounts that PS5 & Xbox games aren't physical because you need to install them. Completely misses the point of what is the important thing that makes a physical release: independent access to a functioning product.

@gothicthegame It's really tiring at this point but can you stop dodging questions about the promised patches for Switch version of Gothic 1 and Gothic 2 ? They were announced back in November/December 2023 and then you went radio silent. The games are still buggy and missing promised features.

For us the most important thing is that people can play on launch date and time. To achieve that we sent out copies earlier. Gothic 1 Remake will need a download of around 5 GB on launch day and will then be fully playable offline - NO permanent internet connection is needed.

Cancel your pre-orders! Gothic Remake is unplayable offline. THQ is withholding this info from customers! No proper marking on the package. No notice on the store page. This was discovered through a copy of the game that was sent early by the official THQ Store.

@Escaflowne2001 @finalprintgames @gothicthegame Yes and X360 online services run like shit after the shutdown. 50% of the time downloading owned games doesn't work, there are various errors with error codes that can't be checked on their support pages anymore because they nuked the X360 support entirely. It's a shitshow.

@AncientArgonaut @GenePark @SpawnWaveMedia Look man I get it but some of the physical copies of games don’t even have the full game on these day. That or they require a major day 1 patch to even function. I hate the DRM check as much as the next person.

@DoesItPlay1 Unrelated to the post but I just wanted to say I really appreciate what you guys do. It's so tiring to see the same idiotic arguments opposing physical releases. There's been a lot of bootlickers and THQ Nordic astroturfing today (regarding Gothic Remake's fake physical release).

People rightfully pointed out we should have tried to talk to THQ about Gothic. Would have loved to. A few years ago we had a good relationship. There are cool people there. But ever since their Saudi investment billions fell through, communication stopped from their side.

Dodged questions (still does it to this day) about the port's technical problems and made false promises and never delivered. Very trustworthy !

@DoesItPlay1 I'm a huge Gothic fan and this remake looked bad to me every time they showed it but what sealed the deal for me was THQ Nordic's behaviour. They f'ed over Switch users with their lies regarding Gothic re-releases and now they do this. They deserve 0 money.

@DoesItPlay1 This game seems bugged to hell and missing core features a month before release. My guess is their "Gold Master" build is atrocious and they don't want people to play it in that state and expose it ala Cyberpunk PS4/X1 disc build. They want to control what people see on release

There is ZERO reason to lock people out of the game through this mandatory online check. Either you deliberately released an inferior product that doesn't work without patches or you want to force DRM on people and try to excuse it with a situation you created yourselves. In the process you have doomed the physical release to become a coaster. Or are you going to keep the download servers up forever?

@NightdiveStudio Hello ! I've played through the demo and the game itself is really great. Are there more performance updates on the way ? The game played fairly well in docked mode (a few stutters here and there) but in handheld mode the game dropped frames frequently. Thank you !
