The US doesn’t rely on Iranian oil. Europe, China, and Japan do. The US has emerged as a net exporter of oil. Who do you think wins by having the straits closed so long? The US or Iran? The US never needed the straits open for itself. It needs them open for its allies and enemies.

I have been proud to join the ISOC community many times in celebration and in service. I am disgusted by the online attacks and threats of violence targeting ISOC and I am working closely with our local leaders to ensure our neighbors are safe and perpetrators of violent threats are held accountable. Our law enforcement officials must investigate and prosecute these threats to the fullest extent of the law. Islamophobia has no place in America.

The Egyptian army can deliver aid through Rafah. They can force aid into Gaza. They have the tanks, soldiers, and weapons to ensure safe delivery of aid. Sisi refuses to do so... because he might lose "foreign support" from Washington and Abu Dhabi against the Egyptian people.

The U.S. government must lead a thorough, independent investigation into the killings of U.S. citizens by settlers in the West Bank and take meaningful action to hold the perpetrators accountable. For both Palestinians and Israelis to live safely and with dignity, those who engage in such violent acts must be held responsible, and Israeli, Palestinian, and U.S. authorities must take all possible steps to de-escalate tensions.
