@Jaded_PDP_HTX @oldtimerhand @zacurate Yup you can (must, if you want IG) hedge 75-85% of your HH/WTI risk for ~5 years at issuance, but basis & NGLs you just have to take what you can get & add as you roll (& pray) Flywheels 1st $1.6B issuance hedges (biggest at the time) trampled the whole basis curve lol

@AndUpstream @oldtimerhand @zacurate Agreed, very true. Same on NGL side —- less liquid further out the curve, worse pricing. Can’t hedge your LOE, huge risk if you get that wrong at underwriting. Or completely missing the recurring workover assumption

@Jaded_PDP_HTX @oldtimerhand @zacurate Basis hedges have always been standard, but given how much less liquid those markets are you can often only hedge out 1-2 yr at issuance. Thus most of the (few) negative ratings outlook alerts from Fitch for PDP ABS have been a result of basis blowout or LOE rising.

@AndUpstream @oldtimerhand @zacurate I’ve heard a lot are asking for basis hedges as part of the deal. The problem is that I don’t think many people understand the difference between IFERC and daily and end up surprised that they are selling daily but hedged first of the month

@oldtimerhand @zacurate Typical WAL on upstream PDP ABS is 3-5 years. The underwriting includes P&A capex and over such a short horizon you have pretty good confidence on timing there. Real risk to these is LOE inflation or basis blowout

@zacurate The real fuckery happens if the special vehicle goes bankrupt. Do bond holders know what ARO is?

@kells940 Is slurry sand conc measured in #/bbl or #/gal? Does bbl/ft or gal/ft fluid infensity work better on same axis as #/ft prop intensity? Gal/ft is the only logical answer, anything else is worse than putting a k in frac
