Picked up my @CharteredColl #Impact this afternoon and turned immediately to @AndyA3h's thoughtful piece on knowledge rich/ child centred teaching in Maths. Good stuff, Andy.

@OliverRMills @LimesWright @mathsjem Not sure about WR but our school uses MNP and it actually introduces it within one whole first which I think is better...

@SuzanneRelou @mathsjem @MathsTweetcher @BeckyHall75 @MrMattock @lukepearce85 @mrbartonmaths I use a stylus + vga connector and an app called Notability. Really useful!

I’m looking to connect with Maths teachers who are using iPad tech in their teaching. Next year I will have an iPad Pro and I want to be clear on how this tech can be used to best aid student learning. @MathsTweetcher @BeckyHall75 @MrMattock @lukepearce85 @mathsjem @mrbartonmaths

@MichaelOllerton @CMaths3 Surely start with the mathematical goals (including habits and beliefs) you want and this will determine SoW and manipulatives?
English

@CMaths3 There’s a 🐓 and 🥚 issue here. Do we start by constructing a SoW and seeing what manipulatives, grid papers etc we will need or vice versa?

@helenjwc @Keep_EYs_Unique @jan_dubiel @nrichmaths @eriksonmath @NCETM @numberblocks Would you mind DM-ing me to let me know which one you are referring to? I work with lots of EYFS Ts and is helpful to know!

@ccooper1309 I did two A levels - media studies and Photography and I'm now doing a PhD in mathematics education. To suggest that A levels predict FE success is crazy imo..

I was asked to leave school at 15 and have no A levels. My route to PhD was not straightforward, but wss not gifted to me either. First we want to deny funding, now we accuse them of an easy ride. Maybe we should just know our place huh?

Evidenced based practice requires a lot more than just RCTs.

New, in press at Educational Researcher! Hugo Lortie-Forgues and I reanalysed 141 educational RCTs commissioned by @EducEndowFoundn and @IESResearch, finding that 57% were uninformative (had Bayes factors between 1/3 & 3). Should we be concerned? Preprint: dspace.lboro.ac.uk/dspace-jspui/h…

@akelahall @Janroweljmu @darynsimon @JadeMur10205674 @LTeacher123 @MrBoothY6 @MissKnuckles @slotter08 We need to scope some venues out. Will have to have room for @AndyA3h on decks again! Might have an edu-dj off with @svpliverpool this time though!

@MissHaughey Agree. It's also vital not to gloss over the fact that they all use the same state 'rubber stamped' textbook which provides a significant backbone to their pedagogical subject knowledge.
