Criticism of Israel is not an inalienable right. It has to be earned. It’s common to begin with the sentence: “You are allowed to criticize Israel.” But the reality is that “criticism of Israel” is not the opening gambit. The starting premise should be that one first acknowledge the existence of systemic antizionist libel and Israel-hate. The demand for social acknowledgment that antizionism exists as a recognizable form of defamation flows from a more basic moral demand: respecting Israelis and Jews as equal human beings. A society unwilling to recognize antizionist libel as a real and identifiable form of hatred has not established the moral conditions for legitimate criticism in the first place.

Israel is more diverse than almost every other country in the region. ~21% Arab citizens with full rights, Jews from Europe, the Arab world, Ethiopia & beyond. And as the sole Jewish state and refuge after millennia of persecution, it has every right to preserve its character.

If 5% of the world's 2 billion Muslims are extremists, that's about 100 MILLION people, seven times the number of Jews in the world. And that's if we ignore the undeniable truth that a far greater proportion of the world's Muslims are extremists than among Jews. It is very likely a substantial majority.
