⚠️The most dangerous thing about Flock cameras isn't what they do. It's what they quietly teach society to accept... The gradual abandonment of one of the oldest traditions of a free society: *The presumption of innocence.* For centuries, free societies began with the premise that the individual is innocent until there is reason to believe otherwise. Mass surveillance reverses that relationship. *Guilty until proven innocent.* Everyone is watched. Everyone is cataloged. Everyone is searchable. Not because they've done something wrong, but because they *might* do something wrong someday. This shift should concern us. When the state records the movements of an entire population "just in case," the presumption of innocence is replaced by perpetual suspicion. Rights become conditional. Suspicion becomes the default. Privacy becomes something you justify. The script is always the same: "For the greater good." "If you have nothing to hide." "It's worth it if it prevents crime." The ends justify the means. Collective safety over individual liberty. Liberty no longer exists as a principle, it survives only as a temporary permission. Benjamin Franklin understood this in 1755: "Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety." Technology changes. Human nature doesn't.

"If you've done nothing wrong, you've got nothing to worry about." 🙄 ➡️ 71% of Flock's alerts were false. ➡️ One driver was stopped 6 times after Flock's algorithms mistook a 9 for an 8. Constant surveillance. Constant suspicion. We are all now guilty until proven innocent.

SERIOUS QUESTION: “Why is it that it takes 900 years and 5000 impact studies to build high speed rail but a 5 minute city council meeting is all it takes to approve a massive data center?”

The question is always how. How? Who is paying for this? Who is supplying them? Who is giving them food, fuel, and direction? Literally how did they get there? How are these invaders getting to first worlds?

@emathias18 @chartdata Because they don’t WANT this song or artist to do well. Their ignorance of it is performative. They simply don’t like that it is doing well for their own reasons.

@chartdata I’m a card carrying metalhead. I’m used to hostile reactions to music. This I don’t get. She’s attractive and the song is decent even to me (can always use more loud guitar 🤘). WTF is with the nasty media reaction?

Ella Langley's "Choosin’ Texas" is now the longest running non-holiday solo #1 by a female artist in Hot 100 history (15 weeks). It surpasses Mariah Carey’s "We Belong Together" and Whitney Houston’s "I Will Always Love You".

I really hope that @Flock_Safety enjoys the folder of photos it has of me flipping the bird to the same camera every day as I arrive in my office parking lot. I wouldn’t mind a printed collage.

The fall of Constantinople was one of the most momentous events in history. Check out this cool documentary about it!

Constantinople couldn't afford the engineer who offered to build them a cannon. He went to the sultan instead. His guns brought down walls that had stood a thousand years. Watch the full film free on MovieAtlas → movieatlasapp.com/1453 "Fall of Constantinople 1453" by historyreforged

What blows my mind about the Roman Empire is that lack of technology is far easier to overcome than lack of freedom from bureaucrats Like unironically these guys built the most insane civic architecture and still hold the record We have to technology to build something a hundred times bigger than ever but instead we chose to employ bureaucrats and allow them to micromanage every detail of buildings down to toilet spacing and the number of fasteners per foot They were willing to spend a significant portion of their GDP on making their civilization epic, and we have cheap bullshit and decay Terrible trade Absolutely humiliating
