Privacy becomes something you justify. The script is always the same: "For the greater good." "If you have nothing to hide." "It's worth it if it prevents crime." The ends justify the means. Collective safety over individual liberty. Liberty no longer exists as a principle, it survives only as a temporary permission. Benjamin Franklin understood this in 1755: "Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety." Technology changes. Human nature doesn't.
