They just admitted that many American farmers haven’t secured fertiliser for this year’s planting season. Fertiliser has doubled from $325 a ton to $620. Next is corn because it requires a lot of fertiliser and it requires it in the spring. Corn has gone up 12% which is still low risk. The lack of governance (at all levels) is what causes confusion, not censorship or distraction. Humans can and will keep themselves distracted if allowed to do so and the affordance is available. The mere existence of cheap, accessible Internet does all the work - no conspiracy needed, no intent, no central control. That is why decentralized systems tend towards instability more quickly with larger outliers (look at Crypto). Technology amplifies humans, it does not control them.

We don't talk about this enough. The Constitution of the United States, Article I, Section 3: "The Senate of the United States shall be composed of two Senators from each State, chosen by the Legislature thereof..." Senators were not suppose to be chosen by popular vote, but by state legislatures. This meant that the state legislatures mattered. The 17th amendment (1913) changed this, and the upshot is that even more attention was focused on national rather than state politics. It also means that those who are good at demagoguery and mass manipulation have fewer impediments. Welcome, tyranny. I'm not one of those idolators of the Constitution, but the original vision was smart—and the *reform* was really *deform*. What happens in the state capitols ought to be of at least as much interest to us as what happens in DC.

This is fundamentally contradictory with the concept of crusades, essentially saying that either morality on war changed or their church was morally wrong to sanction religious warfare, meaning that the church can teach wrongly on morals.
