I've started using Claude. It's great but I can see how someone can spend 20 hours a day on this thing and feel like they accomplished something when they've done nothing.

I read the first hundred pages of The Road last year, and read the first hundred pages of Blood Meridian this year, and in both instances, gave up, because the books never clicked. Lyrical writing, but the characters are reduced to way down Maslow's hierarchy, and the tone is so relentlessly bleak, with almost no humanity breaking through, it was difficult to feel anything besides the flint clicking against the cold steel in the overwhelming darkness. I know many of you love it, but to me, it's overwrought, overstylized, and overhyped.

I know what my grandfather would say about what Kent wrote in his letter. He was a Marine. He fought on Iwo Jima.  He was Jewish. He’d be furious. I know for a fact Kent leaked to Tucker Carlson a meeting the President had with me, at the President’s request, which Carlson in turn used on the internet.  No President should be treated like that.   Apparently, there were more. Not good. And the appalling antisemitism in Kent’s public letter deserves judgment, which is why so many of all faiths are condemning it.

There are many false claims in this letter but let me address one specifically: that "Iran posed no imminent threat to our nation."   This is the same false claim that Democrats and some in the liberal media have been repeating over and over.   As President Trump has clearly and explicitly stated, he had strong and compelling evidence that Iran was going to attack the United States first.   This evidence was compiled from many sources and factors. President Trump would never make the decision to deploy military assets against a foreign adversary in a vacuum.   Iran is the world’s leading state sponsor of terrorism. The Iranian regime is evil. It proudly killed Americans, waged war against our country, and openly threatened us all the way up to the launch of Operation Epic Fury.   Iran was aggressively expanding their short-range ballistic missiles to combine with their naval assets to give themselves immunity – meaning they would have a degree of a capabilities that would give them immunity to hold us and the rest of the world hostage.   The regime aimed to use those ballistic missiles as a shield to continue achieving their ultimate goal – nuclear weapons.   The President, through his top negotiators, gave the regime every single possible opportunity to abandon this unacceptable course by permanently giving up their nuclear ambitions in exchange for sanctions relief, free nuclear fuel, and potential economic partnerships with our country.   But they would not say yes to peace because obtaining nuclear weapons was their fundamental goal.   President Trump ultimately made the determination that a joint attack with Israel would greatly reduce the risk to American lives that would come from a first strike by the terrorist Iranian regime and address this imminent threat to America’s national security interests.   All of this led to President Trump arriving at the determination that this military operation was necessary for U.S. national security, which is why he launched the massively successful Operation Epic Fury. The Commander-in-Chief determines what does and does not constitute a threat, because he is the one constitutionally empowered to do so - and because the American people went to the ballot box and entrusted him and him alone to make such final judgments. And finally, the absurd allegation that President Trump made this decision based on the influence of others, even foreign countries, is both insulting and laughable. President Trump has been remarkably consistent and has said for DECADES that Iran can NEVER possess a nuclear weapon. As someone who actually witnesses President Trump’s decision-making process on a daily basis, I can attest to the fact that he is always looking to do what’s in the best interest of the United States of America — period. America First.

You demonstrated this by killing Qasam Solamani and by defeating ISIS." Then why aren't you giving him the benefit of the doubt? We're less than three weeks in to Epic Fury. It took quite a bit longer than that for President Trump to finish off ISIS. "Early in this administration, high-ranking Israeli officials and influential members of the American media deployed a misinformation campaign that wholly undermined your America First platform and sowed pro-war sentiments to encourage a war with Iran." Source? I noticed a misinformation campaign going the other direction - from people like Tucker who suggested 20,000 Americans would almost certainly die if we knocked out the Iranian nuclear facilities last June. "This echo chamber was used to deceive you into believing that Iran posed an imminent threat to the United States." THIS is the part that''s just incredibly patronizing. Trump has six years of experience being President, He has access to the best assessments made by his intelligence community and his military. Suggesting he fell victim to an external influence operation instead of going with the advice of his appointed senior advisors is patronizing and insulting. "This was a lie and is the same tactic the Israelis used to draw us into the disastrous Iraq War." THAT is false. The record is clear that the Israeli government cautioned against American entry into Iraq. Netanyahu giving supportive testimony in Congress while he was a private citizen (after the decision to invade had been made) does not contradict that. "As a veteran who deployed to combat 11 times and as a Gold Star husband who lost by beloved wife Shannon in a war manufactured by Israel..." We're all sorry for your loss. But even if you are right about Israel encouraging us to invade Iraq (which you are not, as discussed), how are you still blaming them for America's continued presence in Iraq seventeen years later? None of this is remotely persuasive, Joe, and it's deeply insulting to the President who endorsed your Congressional campaigns and entrusted you with an important National Security position. That said, your conscience is your conscience, and given that these are your beliefs, it is indeed best that you no longer serve in the administration.
