@LetsBeFriendsXD @NoMavericks Regular gas is E10, which means 10% ethanol and 90% gasoline. E15 increases that ethanol content by half to 15% (so 85% gas). When the gasoline component is very expensive, the result is that E15 saves ~5-10 cents per gallon, but reduces fuel efficiency by a small amount too.

@LetsBeFriendsXD @NoMavericks Gas burns better and cleaner with certain additives. We used to use toxic additives like lead to boost performance before we figured out that's a really, really bad idea. Now we use ethanol (alcohol), which helps reduce emissions but has a lower fuel efficiency than pure gas.

@ZFlawles1s I was joking that all of the areas in red on these maps almost perfectly line up with all the affluent areas of each respective city (North Dallas, Southwest Fort Worth, Central/Northwest Austin, & West Houston).
Paxton vs Cornyn correlated with income of voters significantly.
English

@electionsjoe The incumbent is a boring wealthy Republican oil tycoon.
The challenger is... well... interesting, to say the least.
English

@lomaxx Brother... when they say "tax the rich" they do not mean you with your $290k per year. They mean people making 100x, 1000x or more than that.
That's why many of those proposed laws have a threshold of many millions before they start to kick in.
English

This is where the “tax the rich” crowd lose me.
Say I earn 90k a year and in 2027 I inherit $200,000
I invest that $200k and after 10 years in the stock market it’s now worth $400k
If I sell it and realise the $200k capital gain, what the govt and the “tax the rich” crowd are saying is that I should be taxed as if I make $290k every year.
Now if I try and split that CGT income across 2 people I’m “greedy” and avoiding tax
But if I sell down in 4x $100k lots over 4 years and minimise my tax, that’s ok and nobody bats an eyelid - but it’s the same principle.

@reubenmiller @nocontextmemes Bonus wacky fact: in our strange world where you are saving $5.50 daily (adjusted for inflation) by not buying that Strawberry Açaí Lemonade Refresher in order to afford a house...
...the house becomes closest in price to your savings by year 110 (the house is 7.21x the price).

English

@reubenmiller @nocontextmemes So yeah, fun fact, even if you bought a Strawberry Açaí Lemonade Refresher for $5.50 every single day from now on for the next FIFTY YEARS, you'd have ~$226k *after inflation*.
Not fun fact: the median house that costs ~$420k currently would cost over $2M in 50 years...
So no.

@Joetravel596617 @_Zojka oh shit, they made a sequel to turquoise??
English

@clrichmond77 @jonpeng @isaiah_bb @officerbill disability checks from the government are quite literally public assistance
English

@jonpeng @isaiah_bb @officerbill Yes, I’m compensated for injuries incurred due to prolonged exposure to toxic burn pits in Afghanistan. That isn’t public assistance
English

@clrichmond77 @isaiah_bb @officerbill hey man, that's public assistance...
why are we just lying these days?
English

@isaiah_bb @officerbill the stipend is a maintenance fee, not public assistance. That said, $450 a kid doesn't cover even close what it takes to raise a child.
English

@dannycantalk @SlimCharles323 @BeeCeeGee1985 @cptdankkk oh good, great value fat-free turkey and bread sandwiches
my favorite
English

@SlimCharles323 @BeeCeeGee1985 @cptdankkk I just checked Walmart. You can get a 24 slice loaf for $1.48 and 2lb of sliced turkey breast for $8.94. Total = $10.42 for 12 sandwiches.
That's a per sandwich price of 87 cents per sandwich.

English

Kevin O'Leary says most people waste $15,000 a year on stupid stuff like $5 coffees
"Stop buying coffee for five dollars and fifty cents"
"You go to work and you spend $15 bucks on a sandwich, what are you an idiot. It costs you 99 cents to make a sandwich at home and bring it with you"
"Bring your own water, your own drink or your own coffee mug. You start to add that up every day it's a ton of money"
"Most people starting on their job making their first $60,000 piss away about $15,000 a year"
English

@PakistanErwacht @LadyLibert16464 @sadreturns you are correct, I worked for one of the competitors of the company that manufactured these modern LED streetlights (that shifted to purple over time), it was caused a manufacturing defect
more reading: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2020s_pur…
English

@LadyLibert16464 @sadreturns I assure you ma’am it was an accident. It was a manufacturing error that made them turn purple eventually
English

@sadreturns fun fact: those white LED streetlights shine a blue LED thru a yellow phosphor coating, the blue/yellow combine to appear white
not-so-fun fact: a manufacturing defect causes the silicone binder to degrade, shifting the light from white to purple more and more each hour it is on

@Arcanition @LinkofSunshine If you want the suburban life Frisco is pretty good. Calling any of these the best "cities" is insane though
English

@GazeUponMyPosts @LinkofSunshine Percentage of six-figure earners?
I mean by that metric, San Jose and San Francisco would be considered some of the best cities in the US, and I think some people may disagree.
English

@Arcanition @LinkofSunshine My college roommate was from flower mound. At one point it had the second highest percentage of people making more than $100,000 per year in the entire country and has been named the safest small city in Texas and top 10 in the country. So what’s bad about it exactly?
English

@JohnCornyn @DairyQueen you can tell this dude is absolutely out of his mind, because there's no sane person that would go to DQ and say "I highly recommend the Blizzard"
that's like going to Papa John's and then telling people "I highly recommend the Pizza"
English

Stopped by @DairyQueen in Sealy, Texas, otherwise known as the “Texas stop sign,” to sample some of their delicious fare. I highly recommend the Blizzard. (I had that after I ate this child-size cone)
