It is critical for $IREN to hold above $50, as this is essentially a premium for the energization of SW, which means little without an actual deal. If no deal is announced during the earnings call, we’ll likely see a pullback to the $42 level, where the 200MA sits.
I’ve previously shared my thoughts on the deal delay - it’s quite strange given the current surge in demand for compute, especially since IREN offers some of the best conditions on the market. Now, the Microsoft case serves as a perfect reference point.
That’s why I’m not getting ahead of myself with today’s rally. Another potential headwind is a sharp increase in the share count due to the ATM, the extent of which we’ll only learn during the report, but it will definitely weigh on EPS. On the flip side, they should have received a prepayment.
Broadly speaking, the entire sector has caught a tailwind from the massive CapEx hikes by Big Tech, which explains why $NBIS saw such a significant re-rating.
Yesterday, I noted that $ORCL might finally break out, and it’s up 6% today. The real question is: who will dictate pricing power as data center construction slows down across the US?

There are probably fewer than 5 single-site, 1+ GW, grid-connected data center facilities operating worldwide right now that also sit in a renewable energy corridor. IREN’s Sweetwater 1 is one of them — you can’t replicate this asset quickly even with unlimited capital.

Hydro alone has 20+ operational plants >1 GW (e.g., China’s Three Gorges at 22.5 GW, Itaipu at 14 GW, Baihetan at 16 GW, plus Xiluodu, Guri, etc.). Solar has ~20 operational parks ≥1 GW (many in China like Talatan ~16-21 GW complexes, Midong 5 GW). Wind has several large bases >1 GW, mostly in China.
Sweetwater 1’s 1.4 GW energization is impressive for a data center campus in a renewable-rich grid (Texas wind/solar), but generation sites at this scale are established and growing fast globally. Congrats to IREN on the milestone!

In my view, $NBIS is currently close to impossible to value, especially not using discounted techniques built for stable industries from the past century.
The company is building a forward value-creation engine whose intrinsic value could be anywhere between $200 and $1,000.

Not many people understand accretive financing. Financing that they're leveraging, based on the many peculiar and rare grid ready interconnections that they established in the past, far ahead of the competition in terms of grid connected.
A dollar raised and spent, in their situation, will make far more than the dollar it cost in FCF, dilution, pre-payments, debt etc. The existence of the ATM itself, gives them better terms for financing in these various ways.
If you only remember one thing from my post, remember the word accretive.

The two most verifiable signals for $IREN are (i) job postings, & (ii) construction progress. Both are real $ going out the door w/ lead time - only way to justify is w/ deals. Been disappointed to-date this year w/ % of hires going to Sweetwater - glad to see that ramping up.
