@francesca_kms Stupid argument, you have to reach a healthy state to be able to ride a bike to work. Why do you idiots hate people who are unable to ride a bike?

Lovely to see so many getting around their day on bikes, this glorious morning. Fun fact: people who cycle to work take one fewer sick day a year on average than non-cyclists, saving the UK economy nearly £83m annually. Cleaner air, healthier people…hard to argue with that 🚲

@francesca_kms Your fun fact seems to be comparing people who specifically cycle to work with people who don't cycle at all. As the latter group will include the chronically sick and disabled I suspect that "further and better particulars" are required in your analysis.

100% believable. @metpoliceuk have not contacted me once. When contacted they had no updates. I've been to court twice since helping them with phone drivers but it seems this person (AO74 YHE) is free to knock people down with impunity. It will likely time out at 6 months
@cyclingweekly no reposts@cw_unique

Police in London are hot on fining cyclists for running red lights, but haven’t caught a single driver involved in car-on-bike hit-and-run crimes in the last year cyclingweekly.com/news/the-met-a…

@kfullermusic Yes, just shows irresponsible parents shouldn't tell kids to play in front of the wheels of cars.

@IsSaddleThereIs @MPSHackney Absolutely thoughtless, stupid driving. And what a shite message to send to a kid (although I'm sure someone will say "good, that'll teach him to expect more of the same").

Cycleway, my arse! @issaddlethereis.bsky.social
When you try to give way to a child trying to cross a side road in his community in Stamford Hill, but a driver with a van full of kids has other ideas and impatiently drives on the wrong side of the road, nearly knocking the poor boy over! Disgraceful driving @MPSHackney!

Once you free up space from parking, it can become something much better. I’ve been cycling and working in this area for 17 years and this shift to trees, benches and people feels transformative. Strangely controversial at first, but once it’s done, no one looks back.

@francesca_kms Not the UK of course. Our streets are now peppered with motorbikes zipping in between pedestrians.

Funny how some people suddenly care about “disabled access” only when it means ripping out cycle lanes Not all disabled people are blind. Some can’t drive at all. Many independently use the cycleway thanks to the segregated design Same design that requires floating bus stops

I’ve always been led to believe that becoming a Dr is something you need a certain level of intellect to attain. If this is the case is it just arrogance that led to this Dr believing that he could drive at whatever speed he desired?

Hilton regularly writes anti cycling posts fanning the flames of antagonism towards people cycling and then wonders why so few people use bicycles to get around our streets.
Hilton Holloway@hiltonholloway

@Bikery1966 Just walked 65 miles around three Japanese cities and saw lots of cyclists. And cycle lanes. Just one - a young bloke in Ginza - was in lycra. I believe the same thing is correct in Netherlands. Why is the UK such an outlier on casual cycle use?

I visited Oxford Street today and I cannot wait for it to be fully pedestrianised. A small minority will no doubt be against it, but give it a few months and people won’t be able to fathom how it ever had vehicles running through it.

@francesca_kms Not my favourite street in London and I don’t think it ever will be. But pedestrianising it is a no brainer. Sadiq Khan has a great instinct for these things.

@francesca_kms It's definitely needed!! I live near Leamington Spa and the center parade is gonna be pedestrianised and some people are so annoyed by it, and im a driver my self and I think it's definitely needed! In Coventry the city center bits got pedestrianised and it was the best thing!
